Too much fiber?

After reading TONS of magazines articles about how most people do not get half of the daily amount of reccommeded fiber, I have always worried about not eating enough. However, MFP says I should be getting 16 grams per day and I am almost always over. Should I be concerned about that? Are there side effects for eating too much fiber?

you can type "fiber" in the search engine under message boards and I am sure there are a ton of discussions on it. I personally don't watch my fiber intake.0

:blushing: yeah to much fiber = toliet useage or farting lol ..... not a good idea to over eat the fiber especially if ur body is not use to it0

generally lots of fiber from unprocessed plant sources (e.g. not from Fiber One bars or fiber-fied cereals) is pretty good for you. if you haven't been used to it for a while, i'd say don't consume too much if you can help it, but generally getting between 25-40g is just fine.0

Too much fiber is only a constipation problem when your not getting enough water to flush it through your system.0

I went through a phase of having bran and bran flakes for breakfast with dried and fresh fruit to get loads of fibre in my diet, and after a while I ended up with stomach pains culminating in having to up and leave a fitness class half way through one night. I have gone back to porridge and dried/fresh fruit for brekkie and it cleared up. I obviously went overboard!0
