I discovered Lilydale Daystarters a few years ago and haven't gone back to regular bacon or other brands of turkey bacon since. This brand tastes like a real slice of meat (as it should), as opposed to the bologna style that the other brands of turkey bacon I have encountered usually resemble. Not only are they delicious, but they are only a mere 25 calories and 1 gram of fat per slice (beating out Oscar Myers turkey bacon by 10 calories and 2 grams of fat, and regular bacon by a whopping 70 calories 8 grams of fat).

You can see more pictures of the bacon (as well as pictures of the packaging) on my blog as I posted a recipe for "Cheddar Bacon Breakfast Sandwich" today using this bacon ( http://jdelisle42.blogspot.com/ or http://jdelisle42.blogspot.com/2011/02/cheddar-bacon-breakfast-sandwich.html ).

Doesn't turkey bacon have a lot more sodium that regular bacon?

Regular bacon is about 220-400 mg depending on brand (220 is Oscar Myer ready bacon, 400 is Harvest thick cut bacon). The Lilydale Daystarters are 270 mg so I think it's pretty par. Overall they rank better in calories, fat (all types), iron, protein, and are par with cholesterol.

Men's Health says turkey bacon isn't anymore beneficial than regular bacon.

Yup, I just eat the real stuff if I'm going to have it. I usually buy mine from a meat market though and not just prepackaged. :)

That's right, that's why I posted this as an alternative. It's not your average bologna style turkey bacon, and based on the comparison I posted, it's better for you :)

That's a good idea as well, that way you can request more meat and less fat.
