This week I did Zumba 2 times, Kettlebell class 1 time, and went to the gym and did my own workout one time. I bured 2257 calories from exercise ( I have a Polar hrm so I know this is correct) and I had a calorie deficit of 850 a day, so 5950 for the week. This is a total of 8,207 calories. That should equal a loss of 2.3 lbs for the week yet I barely lost 1 lb. I don't get this. My sodium was under 1500 everyday but 1 and made every meal this week, not one soda or bad food and drank tons of water. I don't know why I am not loosing weight.

can't see your diary...but is it possible you are not eating your exercise calories and your body is starting to go into survival mode?

was your minimum NET intake (total calories eaten after exercise per day) at 1200 calories? if it was below it you are not eating enough calories and your body is holding on to everything you eat. This may be the reason why you didn't lose what you expected. TOM is also another reason.

also keep in mind that 1-2lbs a week is a healthy weight loss. Its not uncommon to lose less than 1lb a week.

Taking measurments is so much more accurate than weighing. I can fluctuate up to 5 pounds in a day depending on when I last ate or used the restroom. I drink tons of water, so the weight in my stomach makes a big difference. If I do weigh I try to do it first thing in the morning after my morning pee. :) lol

You probably gained muscle. Check your measurements you should see a difference there.

You may be losing inches or gaining muscle. I'm not one of those who says you need to eat back all your exercise calories, however, because you're burning so much, you might want to raise your intake a bit. The thing is that you need to keep trying to figure out what works for you, whether thats upping your calorie intake, or changing your diet around - less carbs for instance.

The Biggest Loser has shown that sometimes you just have a tough week.

    I'm impressed!! Keep it up!!

My net is only 307 right now and I allready had dinner. There is not way I can eat that many calories in a day. I only had a net of 1200 one day this week. I eat 3 meals and 2 snacks. I have not idea how I can eat more. I guess I will have to make sure my meals are 400-500 caloories on the days I work out.

to rev up that metabolism, try to eat every 2-3 hours, a nice balance of protein and carbs---watch those carbs---they are my enemy.

There's your problem. If you can't eat that many calories, don't exercise so much. From the looks of it, your body is freaking out about how much you're burning and how little you're taking in, so it's holding onto every calorie it finds.
  • Slowly start adding calories, don't try to dump it all on at once. Many bodybuilders and serious female athletes get 3,000-5,000 or more a day. But it's not like you need to try to do it all at once. You are going to have to increase your calories if you are going to work out that much. Like running, most athletes (the ones I know) tend to add 10% calories a week until they hit their goal and their body starts losing weight again. I'm not saying you have to add that many, of course.

It also seems that you may be doing a LOT of cardio. I don't know what your kettleball or other gym workout is like, but if you aren't lifting weights, you're going to be burning muscle. It's better to be burning fat. At any rate, take your measurements. 1-2 pounds a week is great.

Thanks everyone for all of the advise. I am going to add some fruit, almonds, or greek yougurt to my breakfast and lunch and double up on my veggies for dinner and I hope this will work. I do weights and my gym and use my 5 lb weights at home.
