I count my calories like it's a religion. I only have one cheat meal per week (Friday night). Cut my soda intake by about 75%. I just HATE it when my pants feel tight when I KNOW I'm doing the right thing!! Ugh!! I asked my hubby today if he saw me eat something that I don't remember eating!! The only thing I can think of is that I had a large glass of diet ginger ale. Now I feel like I had a Thanksgiving meal!! When I get like this, I want to run and jump on the scales, but I don't because i don't want to get discouraged. Thanks for letting me vent guys!!

Is it that time of the month? Mine hit today and I feel like I freaking blew up!

I just switched to low carbs (carb cycling) and never felt better!! Finally, no bloat, no gas, no kidding!! LOL!!

And even at 58, I swear my belly looks flatter even with the meno-pouch!! I eat more fat and protein. I'm rarely hungry. And I'm comfortable!!

Are you watching sodium??? That can make you bloat really easily. Also cutting out soda and carbonated beverages will help. I know it's not easy, but really, it helps SO much! Diet sodas are really evil little things that make you crave sweets and bloat your tummy. Good luck! I also bloat a lot that time of the month... sigh.

Magnesium supplements really help with bloating. Dr. Oz had that on his show. Here is the link to the episode where he talked aobut it. I take a supplement every day and I don't feel bloated anymore.

Parts 1 and 3 of that episode are good, too.

I would say you might be eating too much sodium. EIther that or you have a allergy to something... like dairy products?

I'm bumping this because I feel like this all the time. What is carb cycling?

ANY sort of carbonation will make you bloat, weather its soda water or Coke. Also, track your sodium levels more closely, sodium makes you retain water.

I had a hysterectomy a few years ago - but I do still have my ovaries, so I cycle every month. Maybe that's it. And I did have a soda today. So possible that's it too. I'm gonna drop back to all water for my liquids for a few days to see if that helps. Thanks guys!!!

Carb cycling is eating very low carbs (less than 50 gr/day) on Monday through Friday, then eating more on weekends (but not pigging out eating - just eating pasta, oatmeal, bread, potatoes, etc.). I've dropped weight nicely (we have a trip coming up), but the real upside has been the flatter tummy and the no bloat. It's also called the Anabolic Diet. Very similar to South Beach.

Sodiums all I can think of and don't be fooled diet drinks are zero calories with everything but sodium and those big glasses of ginger ale may be causing the problem. :)
  • I used to feel EXACTLY like you physically and mentally...but I would get on the scale, and get discouraged and start the cycle over again...After I stopped eating processed foods....and I prepare just about all my meals....I didn't even get bloated when my time of the month came. My sodium dropped by like 50% too. I usually do a cheat meal every other week and I still don't get bloated any more.
mabye u have a slight allergen to gluten...that's the new buzz going around ( I used to get bloated when I eat a lot of wheat)

    good luck sister

I cut down on my diet soda consumption, and I notice now that if I have a diet soda, I feel pretty bloated later on, so maybe it is that!
