Am I being too careful?

I eat 3 meals a day and 2 snack. I am careful about what I eat but I won't starve myself. My issue is that I often don't have 1200 calories in my day but I did eat 3 meals and 2 snacks. I make sure I have protein at each meal.....

I was wondering the same thing cause I always get under 1200 by like 100 calories or so but I'm never hungry but MFP always tells me i'm not eating enough that way but I am losing the weight. Hope i'm not sabotaging myself.0

Try eating more, you should eat 1200 plus eat back your exercise cals. So if you burn 300 cals in a day you should be eating 1500 total which would give you a net of 1200 (1500-300). If you were being "careful" you would hit your calories goal, not come under it.
You don't have to eat more food to eat more calories, just make different food choices. Try adding nuts, seeds or dehydrated fruit as a snack or on salads. Add avocado to salads or sandwiches, eat higher fat versions of the same foods you are eating (yogurt, milk, cheese, etc) Add olive oil to soups or sauces. There is plenty you can do to get more calories without actually eating any more food.0 -

I have the same problem sometimes I'm barely at 1000 calories but I am not hungry and I'm still loosing weight like between a half a pound to a pound a week. So I don't think its hurting me but if I do get hungry I eat more.0

Try to make a few higher calorie choices throughout the day. Try foods like peanut butter, yogurt, milk, juice, fruits, etc, that are healthy but calorie dense. Adult women should be eating at least 1200 calories a day. Most people find that at some point, they stop losing weight if they eat below 1200. Even if you do lose weight, it's not as healthy loss, and it's likely to be a higher percentage of muscle lost than if you have more calories.0

Not hurting you yet, but if your caloric deficit is too large you will start burning muscle instead of fat for fuel, which will slow down your metabolism and whey you reach your goal weight you may be the dreaded "skinny fat"0 -
