Emotional Eater....HELP!

I'm an emotional eater. And that is an understatement. When I am stressed...I don't just eat. I INHALE food like my life depended on it. I've learned to channel that energy into exercise instead. But last week, when I had a REALLY awful day at work, I worked out after work but during work I kept eating anything I could get my hands on. Does anyone else have any suggestions on how to control this? I think exercise has been an awesome alternative for me, but I can't just leave work in the middle of the day and go to the gym. What do you do to avoid emotional eating?

If only I knew. I keep trying to find a suitable distraction that will give me the sort of comfort that eating does but as you say not always easy at work.0

Hi this is a tough one because I do the same thing, but it helps if you snack on somethig that will give you a slow release of energy, like an oat bar. Also, whe you feel hungry, try drinking a glass of water, often it's thirst, not hunger, and the frequent trips to the loo might distract you0

Well if your not eating enough calories earlier in the day you will be starving later. Eat a good breakfest filling and satisfying. When it comes to Emotional eating, you need to look deep inside yourself and find out what HOLES you are trying to fill. Because those holes will never be filled with food.
THe key is eating every 3-4 hours. 300-400 calorie meals and 100-200 calories snacks. Mixiing lean Protiens and good healthy carbs(fruits veggies whole grains ect)
Hope this helps.
You cant avoid emotional eating! You have look at it face on and face it and find out the why!0 -

I have asked my family for help. Its nice because I live with them. My older sister is realy good to notice and ask me whats bothering me and if I want to do zumba with her. If you have people around that could help I would ask them. Until I asked there were times I was doing it and had no idea that was why.
Good luck0
