My 3 year old and I made a cake for our Valentine's dessert tonight but I'm not sure how to figure out the nutritional info. We made a Betty Crocker Chocolate Fudge cake but instead of the eggs/oil/water we used a Cherry Coke Zero. Anybody know the nutritional info or how to figure it out? TIA!!

Do they list the nutritional info for the batter without oil, eggs, etc.?
If so, just input that and then add a cherry coke zero.

sounds sooooo good! Do you have to adjust the cooking time at all?

I made it in a heart shaped pan so I'm not sure how that affected it but the directions said 32-37 minutes and I cooked mine for 35

This is my first time but I know others who make it like this regularly and love it. You just use the box mix and a diet soda. No eggs/water/oil/anything else. It's super simple and according to my cake box saves 100 calories per piece!

I didn't know you could use a soda instead of eggs/oil/water, does it work with other mixes/sodas?

It works with most cake/soda mixes! I've heard you can do it with brownie mix and 1/2 a soda too.

I've done diet crush/vanilla cake, sprite zero/strawberry cake and diet coke/chocolate cake. All turned out really well. If you but the batter into cupcake tins, you get the perfect serving size too.

Just about any combination will work. I've used diet sprite in the past when I didn't want a diet cola to affect the color of the cake.

Cool! I plan on baking a strawberry cake tonight for the kids for valentines day, I may have to try the Sprite option instead of traditional!

How do you figure out how much soda to add to the mix?

One standard size box of cake mix + 1 12 oz can diet soda. Mix then bake according to box instructions for the type of cake pan chosen.

After lots and lots of time doing this, I can say that Betty Crocker mixes work better than Duncan Hines.

Also, try to fund diet sodas that don't use aspartame. Baking the aspartame found in diet sodas apparently does something to the acids in the sweetener that intensifies all of it's bad effects. I use Diet RC Cola, Diet Hansens, Zevia and Blue Sky sodas.

Best combo ever is Betty Crocker Butter Pecan and Diet Hansens Root Beer.

I used a devil's food cake with coke zero. Used fat-free cool whip as frosting. WAY yummy and moist. I've also made "brownies" using the devils food cake and 1-15oz can of pumpkin. It does not rise, so it's more of a brownie, but they are VERY moist and VERY VERY delicious.

This was a HUGE hit! The cake is SUPER moist. Even my husband who's not big on sweets liked it.
