I know exactly what you mean. I read that the body burns more calories just before TOM and I know that I usually feel extra hungry around TOM. I don't think including extra calories will be a major issue but only for a few days and not too much extra. I tend to eat more around this time and I'm usually fine :-)0

I want an answer, too!0

Interesting! I'd like to know too. I get crazy hungry during my TOM as well.0

For me i get really hungry/get the munchies the day before TOM and a couple of days after until i get heavy (sorry for TMI!). I then get really heavy achey legs, which is a pain. Any ideas what can help with my legs?! Thanx! :bigsmile:0

I don't think there's any medical need to eat more calories. I can imagine you do burn more though, your temperature does raise and I know I always feel like my metabolism is on overdrive with that shaky/starved feeling and my energy levels go through the roof! I used to have massive two day binges before TOM (I mean like, 5000cals a day!) and it never really affected my weight loss because it would be just those two days. I'm on 1200 a day now too but aim for about 1600 on those days as it helps limit the damage and it's only once a month! Everything in moderation! Including my period binges! lol0

I would say you need more potassium in your diet. Some women have problems with iron and some with potassium during TOM.0 -

Oh right! That's interesting, thanx! I'll give it a go!0 -
They tend to say you use an extra 500ish calories a day when its TOM but as it happens every month your body is used to it if that makes sense?
I get proper food binges just before mine and this month i was good and exercised loads so i could work them into the cals for the day. I did find however that during that week i put 4lb on but it dissapeared straight after.
I also found that doing exercise stopped the cramps too which was a bonus!0
