I am curious to know if any parents or teachers have some good ideas for healthy snacks?
I work for the local YMCA and am placed at a school for a pre and post school program.
I had some training last week out of town for children s nutrition and fitness (Implementing a program Originating from Texas called C.A.T.C.H) coordinated approach to children s health:happy:
My question for YOU is.....do you have ANY creative and FUN ideas for fruits and veggies?
I have thought about making animals and people with veggies....
other then that we eat yogurt, digestive cookies, tomorrow will be salsa and tortilla chips
I'm really hoping for some good ideas from my MFP family:flowerforyou: thank you!!!!
HAHAHA I cant edit the title...I meant SNACKS...I PROMISE I am not feeding snakes to the children

No way, keep the snakes in there! I was literally laughing out loud in my office!
I'm sure you've tried the whole "peanut butter and raisins on celery" is ants on a log trick before... Other than that, I've got nothin! I was never one of those kids who cared about the shapes of my food, I just liked to eat! Explains a lot, doesn't it...?0 -
But snakes are so low-fat and high protein!0

What type of things do you have to work with....like a stove, oven, microwave?0

You could try presenting the food in a fun way, using decorated sandwhich bags or something, sometimes getting to the food is fun for kids, they may think its more of a gift when unwrapping it. Can you seve the fruit and veggies with different types of dip, ranch or hummus? I have little one's who are totally into dipping their food.0

TOO funny!
I just read somewhere (vegetarian times, I think) about deconstructing. The one I remember is deconstructing the peanut butter sandwich. Instead of putting the fillings on bread, use bread sticks to dip into the pb. I'm thinking more like crackers, maybe.
I have to check out some of these sites!
