Im doing the 30 day shred. today is day 8.

alot of people i have talked to say that you dont loose alot of weight but you loose in inches, and since ive been doing everything else and not dropping the weight- i figured loosing inches would be good. some people i talked to said that they saw results after L1 which is 10 days...and then even more results after L2 then 3.

i havent lost any weight which i expected but i havent lost in inches either..not even half an inch. I know im only 8 days in, but i highly doubt ill loose an inch in the next 2 days.

im just wondering if anyone out there has had the same problem or if someone did it that is not far off from there goal weight, if it worked for them.

ill keep doing it but i dont want to waste the next 20 days and not see any result. L1 is hard for me, especially the strength so its not like its too easy and im not seeing a result.

  • Honestly, I've just started, but have heard good things. As I get in to it, I'll let you know. But interested in what others have to say about the program. Good luck!

Great question.....I don't do it daily just here and there to change up my workout routine.....Yesterday I started with Level 3 then was feeling spunky so I did level 2 also........My legs are a bit sore today lol. I am curious to see the answers.

As with most things it takes time unfortunately. 8 days of doing exercise is not much time. It will get easier and whether you can measure or weigh it or not there will still be benefits. You will get stronger and you will get fitter.

I lost 12 pounds doingthe shred and, though i didn't measure my inches, i can see a difference and my clothes fit better. it was more that i wanted to be able to do the workouts like natalie instead of anita - maybe make that your goal instead? then you'll build your strengt hand ability which will translate into results.
    good luck!

I did the shred for 30 days in a row. I ended up losing 4lbs & 8.5 inches.
I saw the most inches & pounds lost after level 2 & getting into level 3.
Those levels take it up a notch & you'll feel it working more. It does take more than 8 days to see results though. Level 2 & 3 are more tough than level 1 and you'll feel it working then.

Was this weight loss at the end of the 30 days or are you still doing it? I'm with you all that I have tried and really don't see how they can say you can loss 20 pounds!
  • I've been doing it for a little over a week and I've lost 2.2 lbs with it already. and it says UP TO 20lbs. :)

I'm in the same boat. I am looking to lose about 25lbs and am on level 3 day 8. I like it, I can tell I'm getting a good workout (or at least a good kick in the butt!) and I am definitely stronger and have more stamina than I did before I started. However, I am not any smaller (lbs or inches). Everyone keeps saying measure, don't go by the number on the scale...but I do. Measurements haven't changed either (well, I've lost a small amount of weight and about an inch, but I attribute that more to my diet than the 30DS). What I do like is that I am definitely more toned--underneath all the fat there is actually muscle now! So I am hoping that eventually the increased muscle will begin burning some of this fat soon. I think the program is definitely worth doing (I mean, it's only 20 min...), for the toning and increased stamina, etc, if nothing else. Maybe try pairing it with some cardio?

    PS it gets easier!!! lol

Today is day 8 for me and I am already noticing a big difference in inches, but last week lost no weight with it. I am nowhere close to my goal weight, so that may be part of the difference for me too. I think during the first little bit of it, you tend to build some muscle, so I wasn't totally surprised not to lose. I will be a little more upset if I don't lose by the end of this week. Inches are coming off for sure, though.
  • I did shred level one for weeks before I could move to 2, now I do level 3 along with Jillians burn fat boost metabolism and no more trouble zones. I think they all "work" you may ne building muscle and not seeing it on the scale. I have lost weight and inches through exercise and diet combined, never really saw progress until I really changed my diet too, but I also have a lot more than 20 pounds to loose. Keep at it and I'm sure you'll see results!

I lost 10.6lbs at the end of Shred. I did it daily for 30 days straight and counted calories. I also walked 2-3 x a week but not vigorously, just slow 30 minute walk here and there.

I blogged daily and here's my result blog. Hope it helps! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/petithamu/view/30-day-shred-result-66089

MissAnjy is right. Level 1 is almost a prep to get you ready for L2 and L3. I didn't really see lots of changes but I lost close to 5lb the first week which I think was just water weight. Weeks after that, I lost appx 2lb a week. From L2 to L3, that's when I saw the most significant changes which took me to my last day.

Good luck to you! Keep with it and you will see results.

this is great to know! thanks. I'm maintaining now and just looking to this dvd for toning. I just did level 3 for the first day yesterday and it's weird--I feel stronger already and am just starting to feel changes in the way my clothing fits--I think the next few days are going to be where the big changes will happen. it really is cool--all this hard work but finally starting to see the results!

I tried the 30-day shred last summer, and didn't lose any inches, and GAINED 2 pounds. very discouraging. I could have tolerated the weight gain if I was losing inches, but, I wasn't losing anything :grumble:

But, I was doing it with a group of friends, 2 of us gained, a few stayed the same, but the majority lost both weight and inches

thanks for the reply. it seems kinda hit and miss..it works for some and not for others. i just finished day 8 level 1. the strength is still really hard. i hope that by the end of level 2 i will see some change. like i said, im not just checking the scale..i dont expect to loose in pounds..but i was hoping for inches.
but i guess ill see what i get there. i hope i dont spend 30 days doing this and not see much.

Today I will be on L1-D6.. I'm debating going to L2 earlier then I intended. 8 days is not enough time to see a change. It really depends on how much weight you have to lose. I took my measurements yesterday and I have lost 2 inches on my hips and 1/2 inch on my lower waist. This was since Jan 10th so it wasn't all thanks to 30 DS. I can feel and see a difference, especially in my hips and stomach. This morning I was looking at my stomach, and I was amazed. Getting rid of the baby belly is hard! I do this dvd everyday along with 30 minutes of cardio on my elliptical. To be honest L1 doesn't have enough cardio for me. If you have more fat to lose I would suggest doing more cardio. Last week I only lost a lb. Hopefully this week I will lose another pound but I know I'm gaining muscle. I just bought pants because I went down a size and now they are getting too big for me! I work my butt off everyday and I don't cheat myself when it comes to exercise or food. Please stick with it, you will see and feel a difference. Don't give up and work hard!

It was at the end and I didn't follow the shred diet, just MFP and eating recipes I made from the biggest loser family cookbook. I also tried to incorporate a second workout in the evening, things like taking the kids swimming at the ymca or walking with them to the park, just a little extra something.
