What music gets you Pumped!!

I work out on my elliptical 3-5 times a week, usually watching my favorite tv shows. So watching the Black Eyed Peas at the SuperBowl, I thought, "That sounds like good workout music". So I downloaded them to my Ipod. I love the song Pump It. When that rattling intro starts, I just get in this zone, my speed goes form 5.0 to 7.0, sweat is pouring off my face, my BP is about 165, and I LIKE IT!!!

Then the song ends, WHAT THE? It's way too short, but maybe that's a good thing so my heart doesn't jump out of my chest! I found that I burn around 100 more calories than normal. What music gets you in the zone? Do you find that you burn more with music than without? Just wondering!

Depends on my mood and what I want to listen to. Sometimes just hearin' Tony Horton's voice is just fine with me somedays. If I do its usually, George Michael, Our Lady Peace, Chantal Kreviazuk, Raine Maida, James Blunt...or some other random music I have on my pc :)
  • You should listen to Will.i.am ft. Nicki Minaj - "Check it out", that is a good song to work out too!

Anything with alot of bass. I like Lady Gaga's music cause it gets you moving and makes you feel empowered. Katy Perry, too. Pretty much anything that is fast pased and lots of bass. =]

On my Jillian Micheal's dvd they had a sponsor for work out music... It was www.don'tquitmusic.com
Where you can find music just for your work out =P
  • I prefer rock, like Led Zepplin, Godsmack, Kid Rock, Linkin Park, etc. But I do also have some Black eyed Peas, Beyonce, some good dance music. I actually have a bit of all music on my ipod, sometimes I need to change it up.

Hard rock, melodic rock, hair metal, other metal (not of the screaming, speed, or thrash varieties), alternative...

I use Last FM, Slacker, or smart playlists on my iPod to get a good random mix of stuff while I'm working out, so I don't have a set batch of music I play. Just as long as it is rockin', I'm good.

This is going to sound very weird but I listen to the 300 soundtrack while working out. I'm not sure if you have seen the movie or not, but (SPOILER ALERT!) the actors/characters have rediculous bodies - I'm talking 8 and 12 packs here! Because this is an epic war type of movie the music is very determined for lack of a better word. My favorite track is "Fever Dream" I can listen to this for hours when I'm on the elliptical.

If you want something fast and pumping and free (but maybe not for the rock and metal fans among us), try this site http://www.djsteveboy.com/podrunner.html A new 'track' released every couple of weeks and the tracks a generally an hour long. You can subscribe to it as a pod cast and then you'll get the new tracks as soon as they come out.
  • anything pop! they have that beat that makes you go pow. and gets you moving. I love it. Also OLD school rock. Love me some survivor!
