friends without the drama

Not for nothing but when I joined MFP a few weeks ago I was soooo excited by all the support and love and encouragement I was getting, and suddenly, I'm noticing the craziness around. I want support, I want to give support, I want to give and get encouragement, I want to give honest to goodness heart-felt energy to people and get it in return. I dont want little make-believe roleplay going on. I see that that's how a ton of people on here are getting by, but that's not what I want. I'm a real person, with real bad days, with real good days, with a real job, with real kids, with a real husband, with real bull**** going on. I dont need to waste my time with play. I want to get rid of this fat and get moving. If anyone else wants that, if anyone else out here has the same goals as me, please add me. I'm sure that pissed a bunch of people off, but I dont apologize for being straight and truthful with people.

Honestly? That's why I don't send friend requests. I'll gladly accept almost anybody, but I also have no problem deleting them if I feel like there's drama. I haven't really encountered it yet myself, but I know it's coming. It's on every forum.

I think that's just part of being part of an online community. We're all here for different reasons. You encounter "fake" people in real life just as much as you find them online, it's just that online, their presence is kind of always there, if that makes sense. I don't let it bother me. If somebody's dead weight, I'll delete. That's the beauty of online interactions -- all it takes to end a toxic "relationship" is a click of a button.
  • I have noticed any drama (I don't really know my way around the page too well yet)
But I'm here for genuine sincere support :)
  • thanks guys. i was afraid of getting "flamed" im sure i will but since im in a mood today ill let it roll off my back when it comes LOL

I hear ya. When I joined MFP 3 yrs ago we didn't have the news feed and status updates. It was just a bunch (not nearly as many as now) of people looking to get fit, lose weight and share ideas. That is why I returned to this site after health problems. But it has changed and I'm not sure how much I really like some of the new things. So feel free to friend me. I'm just on here for some good honest workouts, calorie counting and to give support as someone who has been through it all and can prove that it works.

Im ready to do some deleting, I have said yes to all the friend requests and tons of people I have never heard from again. I want to go back to a tight little circle of "support" instead of having to read through lists of updates on people I never hear from. ALSO, Im finding some people ONLY write complains and whine about t heir excuses. YES I have a bad day, YES I get busy sometimes, but I dont want to read someones new excuse EVERYDAY on why they will start tomorrow....the last thing I need now is motivation to make excuses

Sending a friend request now. I'm not into fake drama, but I'm supportive for real-life drama like lazy hubbies, screaming kids, a stressful job and non-budging scales!

OMG I'm in, I don't even deal with drama in real life let alone on a forum lol. I just want to lose my pudge! If there's something going on in your life and you feel that I might have insight, then yeah message me. But if it's Jersey Shore crap, please leave. I don't really care to hear about it.

Isn't a little pretend more fun then all that!
  • I have a few, very few, friends that are mostly around my age. I got really tired of hearing that your dog pooped on the floor, your kids are stressing you out and you hate your co workers...although I feel for ya, I don't want to go there myself. Been there, done that. I really only want to know about weight loss/fitness helpful type things.

There is enough drama on this board alone that you just can't help running into anyway....

yeah, pretend is fun but sometimes reading some of it makes me want to gag and it reminds me of when i was younger and AOL IM was all the rage and it sucked the life out of my real life...i love the people in my real life and i love the people in my online life but i want to be real in my online life too...make sense?

New and not aware of drama. I blog about other stuff on other sites so I know how dramatic these things can get.
What you described as a support system, forum is what I am looking for.

Adding friends, accepting friends, ... have no idea how that works.

I didnt know there was role playing on this site, lol I have enough trouble being me couldnt imagin being someone else:laugh:
  • Girlfriend, if you need good, honest, support I am here for ya. I have always been a really positive person and I like to believe the best in everyone. Sometimes it gets me into trouble because unfortunately people never fail to let you down. But I promise above all the one thing I concretely believe in is to be honest and supportive in all walks of life. I am determined to finally better myself and lose weight, I love this system and the fact that some people have put a sour taste in your mouth through their drama really makes me sad. We can all do this, and if you would like, you have a fitness buddy in me.

    GOOD LUCK!

I can appreciate that... you know me I like to joke around and have some fun. But I am as serious about being more healthy as anyone... wait until you see what I whip up for dinner tonight!
  • I agree. That is what I am looking for too. I am sending you a friend request.

I haven't encountered any of the "drama" yet but your goals and focus are very similar to mine. I would be happy to support you in your journey, if you would do the same for me. Sending you a request now!

Ok I thought it was just me!! I just thinking today that it's time to start doing some deleting. This is suppose to be a weight loss site for people who are SERIOUS about losing weight!! I get sick of seeing-so what I'm eating a whole pizza tonight and I'm not gonna log it crap and then complaining about why the scale won't budge!!

There's a few nasty people on here that I'd NEVER be friends with. I just notice they are nasty to everyone and I don't need that.

Couldn't agree more, I have been on here for nearly 4 weeks now and have been VERY selective in my acceptance of friends, like 2 lol, as you say we need like minded folk that live in the real world not "The Sims Village" so you can friend me if you like as im gonna be around for a while with the amount im needing to lose

Couldn't agree more, I've gotten sucked into the drama more than I like. I'm refocused on my health now and want people around me that are supportive and true to themselves. :flowerforyou:
