Could my generic sweetner be bloating me?

So I have recently switched the sweetner for my coffee to a generic version of splenda. Since then, I have noticed my belly being a bit more bloated. Usually when I wake up, it tends to be a little flatter then the rest of the day but now it seems to always be somewhat bloated. Any ideas??
I am, of course, planning on discontinuing this to see if it helps but I am curious what other people use for no calorie sweetners. I heard Stevia is all natural and might be a good choice. I was also told to not bother with any of the artifical sweetners and just use regualr sugar... any suggestions.
Thanks! :flowerforyou:

I switched to stevia to delete regular sugar from my diet almost 3 weeks ago. I don't know that I will ever go back! It is much sweeter than sugar and one packet goes a long way, so use it carefully. They also have drops in liquid form. I bought the vanilla cream flavor and 4-5 drops in a glass of carbonated water tastes just like a cream soda. Which is great for a recovering soda addict!0

I'm also using generic brands.
Had an individual tell me not to use at all - if I had to use them - use sparingly.
So, I slightly cut down....0 -
I try to use the natural sweetners too - agave, maple syrup (real), stevia. I'm going to grow the stevia in my garden this year and see how it works - I think it'll make a very unique Christmas gift all dried and ready to pop in your coffee for the people on my list.
I don't know if it's the generic version or not, I found I got bloated with any artificial sweetners but I have to say that the splenda wasn't as bad. I have experienced aspartame poisoning in the past so I avoid it like the plague - I still can have some, but I have to let it leave my system before anymore - any build up and I'll be back at the hospital. Research is also finding that artificial sweetners cause you more cravings - so bear that in mind.
I'd rather use natural sugar and make sure to get protein with it to curb the sugar spike than use the artifical stuff because of all the side effects - for me, including bloat.
MayJenn - I HAVE to find those drops...that sounds amazing!!!!!0 -
I found mine at my local Kroger, in the organics section. They do have them on Amazon though. There are a lot of flavors available there.0

Generic or not, Splenda makes me bloat up like the Goodyear blimp. If I ingest it makes me feel like I could deflate like a balloon if I got popped with a pin. Hate that stuff! If I do use artficial sweeteners, I try to stick with aspartame as it doesn't cause me an side effects.0
