My Success....IM ADDICTED.

I never, in a million years, expected to become a person with an addiction. I've had with bouts of alcohol and even slight drug issues, but never to the point of an ADDICTION.

Not anymore...im addicted. IM ADDICTED TO WORKING OUT, GETTING HEALTHY, AND LOSING FAT.

I began my journey to a new life as most do on January 1st. I told myself I need to just be better. Better in a lot of aspects. My personal life, my professional life, my health, and my outlook on life. I signed up for a free 2 week trial at a gym. I told myself if i can go everyday for the 2 week trial (5 week days) that I will prove to myself that I should buy a gym membership. Well I did it. I completed my 2 week trial with using 10 our of 14 days on it. SUCCESS. I then purchased a membership to a gym, and have continues to go EVERY MORNING before work. Most people think im crazy for getting up at 4:15 AM to go to the gym by 5. I CANT HELP IT. I LOVE THE ENDORPHINE RUSH!!!!!!!!!

The alarm goes off, I hit snooze and lay there for 10 minutes. While laying there, I think of what i'll be doing in the gym that day. I started C25K the other day, so on off days I do elliptical and weight training. I LOVE IT. I love the BURN in my muscles, makes me know i did a good job. I LOVE the fact that i need to keep going up notches on my belt. I LOVE that I have more energy through the day. IM ADDICTED TO IT.

I never...ever....EVER thought i would be someone who is so motivated to workout. I have a lot of respect for the people here @ MFP....I don't think i would be succeeding like this without this site.

I work part time at a restaurant, and monday i worked with a waitress i hadn't seen in about 3 weeks. While punching in she comes up to me and says "did you get new glasses?" and I said, "Nope, same old glasses" and she replies "Hm. Im not sure what it is, but you look different" I didn't say anything about working out or trying to get in shape, I just took it as a blind compliment, as she knew something had changed, but she wasn't sure what.

I watched the biggest loser last night, and actually found myself tearing up to some of the things the contestants were saying, because i know how they feel. I've struggled my whole entire life with weight issues. everyone in my family is over weight. I know that I can succeed. I know that I will WIN this battle, and continue to fight the war the rest of my life.

SO THANK YOU EVERYONE.

Much Love, More Respekt.
Phil

Phil - fabulous post. Keep at it! I too have seen the light. I have never been overweight, per se, but more up and down 15 pounds a year and not a very healthy eater. I've changed my eating habits and really challenged myself with my workouts this year (Insanity!!) and I have never felt better.

    Have a great day!

I know the feeling!! I go to the gym before work at least 4 days a week, some weeks I take a day off from the gym. I feel so great afterwards!! Plus then I can't talk myself out of going after work.

    Keep up the great job!!!

EXACTLY. If its the first thing you do in the morning you can't talk yourself out of doing it because "you're too tired after work"

    NO MORE EXCUSES!

Nothing like that early morning RUSH.

Thanks! I love it too. I've never been so set on succeeding before. When i started this, I was semi-determained, but i easily lose focus. Not this time. Its not so much that my enthusiasm is catchy, but seeing the changes in my body is what drives my enthusiasm.
  • Phil,

We started about the same weight, but I just came in from the cold a week ago......:
    .
Damn!! You are a true inspiration. The gym comittment was something I've been putting off forever (I already have a membership) and your words helped me to r remember what I want to be. .Goal-Oriented. Powerful, Decisive, Clean and healthy.....
    .
Tomorrow morning is too start (tomorrow for me has often become never) .....So, I'll be on the bicycle today after work.
    .
Thanks for your words, and best of everything to you!

My pleasure! Thanks for the add! We can most definitely encourage each other to keep going. I post a daily blog with all of my daily ramblings pertaining to the gym and my daily life. I suggest the same for everyone. It helps get the thoughts out of your head and put them into action.

Me too! I stuck to the 21 day theory and it worked. I miss it if I don't do some kind of workout. This is for real this time and MFP is a huge part of that! Thank you for your story! Kim

  • I feel the same way. The only was I was going to get this done was to get addicted. I needed to jump in and get obsessed with making myself better. I am at the early stages but I am so excited with what is to come.
