OMGGGG I love love Hibachi! My fave place to go out for something special. Well, I usually splurge there becasue I love it so much. usually you will get a salad & shrip apatizer, then maybe noodles, then rice, and then your choice of meat. I usually get a steak & chicken combo. mmm, great luck to you. Maybe a wonder woman work out before then let yourself enjoy it? OR, while everyone else is eating it you could just get sushi haha.0

I'm a really picky eater so I dont even think I will really enjoy it And I heard that sushi isnt that good either that it has alot of calories. \
I just have no idea what to get. I was thinking maybe like shrimp or something? Im completley clueless0 -
oh no, sushi isnt that bar for you at all. if you like psring or california rolls, way better option then then probably 1600 cal meal. me, I would say enjoy it if it is something special, and just do a major work out and eat little before.0

I LOVE hibachi as well! I don't eat meat, so I always have just fried rice of something. I don't know of anything that is really "healthy" there. They use oil and saki in everything they cook. But, I agree that I think the sushi may be healthier. And, I just learned last night at Anthony Bourdain's show, that sushi is supposed to be eaten with your fingers...not chopsticks. And, don't mix the wasabi in with the soy sauce. And...complement the chef on how good the rice is, well,...if he's a real Japanese chef
Have fun! It's a whole experience too...not just a meal! Super fun!0 -
or share you meal with the bf?0

you can also ask them to not put any sauces on yours and just eat them plain, it will just be grilled veggies and meat/shrimp. thats what i do the sauces is what adds to many calories. you can also see if they have a low sodium soy sauce to add a little flavor. but be sure to put it on yourself, they may overload it.0

Do you like Sushi?? Most hibachi places sell sushi and you can control your portions a little better... if not. Stay away from the fried rice, get steamed and do shrimp or chicken. The soup is high in sodium and the dressing is VERY fatty (but ohhh so good)! Good luck!0

I usually get the chicken when I go to hibachi as it seems to have the least amount of calories similar to being grilled. Good luck!!0

The portions are HUGE!! just get like the chicken teriyaki...mmmm its sooo good. It comes with veggies and fried rice. Eat all your veggies and some chicken and if you are still hungry then eat a little bit of rice!! You usually get soup and a salad with it too, so just eat your salad before hand, the dressing isnt bad at all, and I hate the soup so i never eat it and i have no idea how bad it is. Enjoy your night!! its a lot of fun to watch the chefs0

You could always get the steamed rice (but the fried rice is GREAT) and the chicken or shrimp or a combo. Some have Tuna Steaks that are great and good for you. When you order your meat, ask them to do it without butter. They put butter on EVERYTHING! Personally, I would just workout like a crazy person, eat it as it is intended to be, but just don't clear the plate of all the fried rice. (you could also get an edamame app to fill you up a bit so you down breakdown in a sea of fried rice.) I really think this is a place to be enjoyed. If you have never been, I would hate for it to be less than what it is intended to be.0

I went to a Hibachi last year for the first time. I ended up getting a california roll (salmon, cream cheese and rice roll) ALL Hibachi restaurants have that kind of roll. check it in the database B4 u go and see if it's something u can "afford" cuz lemme tell u something...even if u aren't into the sushi scene, this stuff is AWESOME!!!!0

I'm an extremely picky eater and I can still find food there to eat. I usually eat half the rice and get chicken or pork. The soup is good too, not much to it. If they offer you anything else just point at your date or a friend who's not trying to eat healthy.
You can also eat only half of your meal and take the rest home in a box for the next day.0 -
Im going to ask my boyfriend to find out the name of the place so I can look at the menu and be prepared.0

The problem with these places is that they like to cook all the food on the hibatchi in a ton of butter and oil. Maybe you can just ask them to lay off the butter for you. Other than that I would recommend eating the soup and salad, get steamed white rice (or brown if they have it) and have some shrimp or chicken and eat tons of veggies.
When I go out for hibatchi I usually resign myself to having a more indulgent meal than normal.0 -
I love hibachi!!!!! But had to turn it down recently because I know I'd eat EVERYTHING they put on my plate. Soup, salad, fried rice, veggies and steak...every bit.
What you could do is enter the foods you would eat into your diary, play around with it to get the right amount of calories for your meal and that way when you get there, you'll know EXACTLY what you can eat. I do that when we eat out, it really helps!0
