Shake Weights

Has anyone tried these Shake Weights and do they work? I wanted to buy one to have at home for those days when I feel extra motivated at home...

I played with one in the as seen on tv store. In my opinion, the 28$ could be better spent on a decent set of resistance bands.

Aside from being highly amusing to watch being used they serve absolutely no purpose whatsoever. Your muscles grow when being overloaded with progressively increasing resistance - wobbling a light weight back and forth will do absolutely nothing!

Never tried them but everything I've read said they're not really any good. The one I read last said that for someone who didn't lift weights they might be ok (I took it as basically better than nothing) but if you do any weight lifting don't bother with them and just get some regular hand weights.

I see the shake weight as being similar to those folks at the gym who are doing resistance training and let momentum carry the weight through most of the motion, then let gravity bring it back down without putting up a fight. I suppose it's better than doing nothing at all, but your best results will ALWAYS be from doing proper resistance training and using your muscles to control the entire movement properly. I agree that the $28 could probably be better spent on resistance bands, maybe a set of small dumbbells, etc.

If there was any real benefit to it all males between 10 and deathbed would have amazingly toned arms. We've had the shake weight since the beginning of time.

    HAHA!!! I totally agree!

My mom bought one and it is, hands down, one of the worst uses of plastic ever created. We took it apart and used the weights for something else.
