Always Hungry

I have been doing really well with what I eat and making sure I stay around 1200 calories. Each day I have been exercising a bit more and more intensely. Things were great and I am feeling a lot better however, the last 2 days I have been constantly hungry! It's driving me crazy? is this my body readjusting? Or is there an adjustment I should make myself?

I have those days too, and that is when I allow myself to eat my exercise calories. You're working out more, so your body is sending signals that it demands more fuel0

eat more protein.. it helps with the hunger and it helps rebuild your muscles.0

OMG...same thing is happening to me...I have been starving last few days, no matter how much i eat..im eatlin little snacks here and there, and i just keep being hungry..Im still staying with my 1200 calories, but somthing seems off.0

1200 calories is pretty low, I eat my excercise calories every day and I continue to lose weight every week. You will not sustain if you are hungry all the time.0

Is the 1200 calorie goal set by you or MFP? You may need to eat more calories.0

too funny. was just going to post on my home page that 'i'm soooo hungry'. it's 11:08 am and i'm eating half my lunch (maybe all of it!). i think it definitely may have to do with the fact that i've increased my exercise. this too shall pass...right???0

1200 is very low - I would be sure you always eat your exercise calories back. How much do you have to lose? if you have more than 14lb to lose you can probably up your daily calorie goal a fair bit and still lose. Better to lose slowly and manage to stick to it than get to the point where you are ravenous and blow it by bingeing.
I always listen to my body - when I feel *that* hungry I know that I would do better eating just a little bit more and can still lose weight. You should be able to lose without feeling starving all the time. Maybe try increasing your calorie intake a little and see if you are still losing weight.
good luck!0 -
You are leaving most of your exercise calories uneaten I noticed ( looked back over about 1 week). You can eat your exercise cals and still lose weight, but can be good to eat avg of at least 1/2 exercise cals. Your body maybe telling you it needs fuel. Try a protein snack just before exercise and keep hydrated. Also eat something ( even if small 75 - 100 cal snack ) every 3-4 hrs ( helps to keep blood sugar on a more even keel.) Good luck finding your balance. : -)0

I have days where I am sooo hungry too. I try to eat a LOT of vegetables those days. I will make up a big pan of "stir steamed" veggies, carrots, broccoli, zucchini, onions, whatever I have. (very little oil, hot big frying pan and just keep adding little amounts of water so it sizzles and steams) I will eat it over some rice, or sprinkle some parmesean cheese on it. I love spicy things, so some hot sauce or pepper flake are good (for me)! The other option is to make some vegetable soup. You can pig out on either of these and really not eat many calories and you will be full. You can throw some protein or carbs in your bowl to make a meal. And I almost always eat my exercise calories and have been losing consistently. I do not always eat them the same day if I work out in the evening, so sometimes my next day is over a little bit, but it all evens out! I do try to eat them within 24 hours.0

Thanks! I have been trying NOT to eat my exercise calories but according to Jillian Michaels once you exercise and rev up that metabolism it keeps up the burn for 48 hours. So, with the longer more intense work outs my body is complaining! LOL I will up my calorie intake a bit but make sure it is with good stuff and not reaching for a cupcake!0
