Anyone want to help me stay accountable?

I'm new, I posted for the first time yesterday and I'm starting to believe that this site is going to be my salvation. To recap, I had lap-band in 2009 and have gained 70 pounds since then. It doesn't work and I've been apathetic to the whole thing until recently. I need to be obsessed this and accountable. I'm 35, Male, and live in the Chicago area. I weight 320 pounds and am 150 pounds away from my goal. I'd love to find someone (local or not, doesn't matter) who is willing to help me stay accountable. I can lie to myself but it's harder to do when someone knows what the scale and tape measure really says. I'm happy to do the same in return. I really don't want to die, I've got to do something. I'm literally taking it minute by minute and trying to get through the compulsions and cravings until they pass. Anyone want to come on board this crazy train with me? Please? Thanks!!

Sure, I'll add you as a friend. I'm pretty active on the status updates on the "My Home" tab, and watch people's success/failures.
And congrats for joining MFP. This is, in my opinion, the best place to be to start and finish the journey. I love the people here and have never felt more motivated to turn my life around. My advice is stay active on the forums. There is so much to learn!0 -
I'll definitely get on the crazy train0

I too had lapband surgery in 2007 and it did well for a while until I rediscovered sugary food slid right through the thing. I went from 378 to 276 and then back to 314 in 2010. Joined MFP in August and it has greatly helped me with my accountability. I understand where you have been and where you are now. Remember that your band is just a tool, the rest will be up to you. Utilize the band for helping with portion control and helping you to eat slower. Use MFP to keep in line with the calories, fat, carbs and such. Just remember to utilize the exercise tab too. Being able to add exercise a few times a week. Since August, I have lost considerably. I will be happy to keep you accountable and will request you as a friend if you want my help.0

Oh, my heart goes out to you. I only have 20 lbs to go, but I am on this site a lot during the day, so if you ever need any words of encouragement, I'm not far. I'll add you as friend. I'm sure you will get a lot of friends that you can lean on here! I really want to see you succeed!0

Hello My friend!!
First of all...congratulations to you for making yourself accountable. The change is a big one and it really has to come from the very core of you. You really have to look at why you eat? Have you ever written down what you are feeling before, during and after over-eating, or making bad choices? Get yourself a journal - write it all down - what doesnt get measured gets forgotten (meaning if you keep it in your head it will not be impactful).
Add me as a friend and I will help you any way i can.
You can do this but you have to understand that it is going to be a challenge....YOU CAN DO IT!! Positive attitude, positive thoughts and determination will get you to where you want to be!0 -
I'm happy to cheer you on...I need all the help I can get also. As soon as you feel like eating and it's not time, come to the site and write. I bet one of us will answer. Good luck! We all know the struggle!0
