Cooking/Food shows

I am a foodie and I LOVE to watch cooking shows, or almost any show that features food.
Anybody else out there in this boat?
Anyways, my husband and I like to watch Anthony Bourdain and Man vs Food together. Every time we would watch them we used to make a snack during the show. A loaded hot dog, or nachos or something inspired by what the host was eating.
Last night was my first night watching MvF since starting with MyfitnessPal. My mouth was still watering. But I learned that it was only my brain that wanted the food, and my stomach wasn't hungry! I was so happy that I got through 2 episodes of MvF with nothing but a diet 7up!

VERY GOOD! I can no longer watch those shows because they make me hungry....or make me think I am! I do miss them though.0

Makes me crave the yummy food LOL do they have any healthy cooking shows or shows that show you how to cook LOL!0

I watch a lot of Food Network, sometimes passively though. I'm very into cooking and trying new recipes and that was actually partially why I was hesitant to start counting calories.
Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa) is my all-time favorite, but I'm starting to appreciate 30 minute meals and secrets of a restaurant chef too. I get so inspired and want to try so many new things in the kitchen but then have to come back down to reality because a lot of the recipes will have to wait until I'm done losing weight.0 -
Congratulations on your MvF victory!
I watched my first Man v Food episode yesterday (then binged via Netflix), and I'm frankly surprised you could eat while watching the challenge portions (he looks so uncomfortable.)
The other food is in such massive portions, but the challenges are ridiculous. I found myself doing mental math...how many calories? Seriously?!! But it did inspire a morbid curiosity... will he look heavier at the end of a season? (Yes) How many hours of working out would it take to burn off one of those [insert food name]? Does he travel with an elliptical? It's like a calorie carwreck...0 -
I have a total crush on Tony Bourdain, and I love Top Chef, Barefoot Contessa (can't stand her, but love her food), Giada (can't cook for anything but love her anyway), Iron Chef...all of them really! lol. I'm picky enough that most of the food I wouldn't eat, but I love learning about new ways to cook and combine ingredients. I love to cook!0

I do ab exercises while watching Cupcake Wars. My husband thinks I'm crazy! But, watching it doesn't make me want cupcakes, I watch it because I'm doing research.0

I totally love watching Food Network! But I only watch it when I'm at the gym putting the time in on the treadmill (because then I can't go to the kitchen and start eating!)... my favorite show is Giada at Home... I also like Cooking for Real with Sunny Anderson and Barefoot Contessa with Ina Garten. I love cooking and consider myself a foodie as well, and the shows are really inspiring with the recipes - I just have to modify them or plan when I can have those "treats", as they are often not the healthiest recipes. I had a realization the other week while I was running and salivating over some food being made on the T.V. - it is that these shows are sort of like "porn" for foodies... I get to watch all the great food being made, see and hear how wonderful it is, my mind thinks "mmmm yummy", but I don't actually eat it! I know it's a rather vulgar comparison, but I thought there were some humorous parallels. :blushing:0

Most cooking shows make me a little sick. Many are just so unhealthy. I also don't like that most meals are centered around meat. I like to watch Raw Food Uncooking videos and DVDs, and if there is a vegetarian show on, sure. I eat meat sometimes, but it still makes me sad. Now that I have my degree, after all I have learned about and seen in the food industry, and especially how meat is raised and slaughtered, it's hard to watch people cook and consume certain things.0

Love food network! Surpringly, doesn't usually make me hungry. I love to watch Chopped and Worst Chefs in America. Restaurant impossible is pretty cool too. I dont' really cook alot, but watching these shows has definetely improved my understanding about food and basic knowledge.0

you could still have a snack while watching, just have celery, carrots, or other fresh veggies! Low calories and would hit the spot0

Ah, some people after my own heart. I am a total foodie and L-O-V-E Food Network (if it tells you anything, I gave up watching Food Network for Lent the last two years. It was SO hard to do!!.) I love all things cooking/food related. I think when both my kids are in school I'm going to culinary school. I love to cook and bake and have really enjoyed the challenge of making recipes lower in calories and fat. It doesn't bother me to watch the shows even if I can't eat everything they make.
So nice there are other people out there with similar interests.0
