So i don't know if there is a thread out there for all us parents raising kids all by ourselves... So here is one. :-) First let me say how proud I am of all the single parents. You are beautiful and amazing! Next, in case you don't know me, let me introduce myself. I am Ed. I am a single parent of two beautiful kids. Their ages are 7 (going on 20) and 17 months (just plain crazy). My schedule is crazy but at least I have the kids nana to come over and help watch the baby. Most days i am at work by 4 or 5 then race home to get the baby and pick up my son from school. Then we have scouts (I help with that, kind of a co-leader for his pack), and I coach (or am an asst coach) for all of my sons sports. I try to keep the kids busy and we are rarely at home. But all that hard work and runnign crazy is soo worth it. Kids are a gift from God.
So now its your turn! :flowerforyou:

I was a single parent from my daughter's birth until she turned 19. I finally got married two years ago in May. It is a tough job, more emotionally for me than anything else. No one else there to "set you straight" or share the burdens when your child is going through something. Even though my daughter is 21 now and my husband didn't meet her until she was age 19, I am so blessed that he calls her "our daughter".
I am so thankful for my friend's, family's, and my church's support throughout the years. I couldn't have done it without them and without God for sure!!! No one is truly "alone" unless they want to be.
Go SoldierDad, you have the hardest but most rewarding job in the world!!! Keep up the great work!0 -
Ah Ed...I hear you. Way to go being a great "on the go" dad! I am a single mom with 4 (yes count them 4) kids. Life is crazy working full time and raising kids but I decided that it's time I put myself first (for once) and take time out of my day to get healthier and feel better. I know I will be a more patient and active mom for doing it!

This is a great thread to start I am also a single parent of two kids my daughter will be four and my son will be eight life is full of surprises with them. but I am always keeping them busy my daughter is in dance, and in child care, as I go to school she does as well. My son is in Second grade is so uber smart it isnt even funny. I cant find a good school for him and cant afford a private school. He has ADHD though which is difficult at times. He is in Muscle Men Gymnastics and loves it. But anyway great thread to start ED always thinking of something.0

Single mom of one very spunky seven year old. I'm recently divorced and while it's been a struggle we will always have each other. We're both very active...love to hike and play outdoors as often as possible. It's a tough job but it's worth it.0

I'm a proud single mom of a 17 year old senior this year!! Been accepted to one college and waiting on word from his Number One choice (fingers crossed). I've raised him on my own since birth with the love and support of family and friends.
Am very blessed to have an amazing relationship with my son. We can talk about (almost) everything, have a mutual respect for each other, he does well in school, is a huge help around the house....if nothing else, he will be well trained for the woman he marries. lol
Can't believe I'm going to be an "empty nester" in the fall. I'm feeling it already...is certainly a totally new phase of life for both of us.
Thanks for starting this thread. Single parenthood can be tough, but the rewards are well worth it.0 -
Hey! I am Karley, I have a 2 and a half year old girl named Kai, and an almost 6 month old named Kalani. I am 19, had my first daughter at 16 and second at 18. I know that sounds bad, but I assure you I am as good of a parent as I possibly can be. I am in College Transitions class right now to get ready for college in the fall, and I will be going for nursing. So right now I am home mostly, but I just threw in class and homework, and then college! I also breastfeed.0

Well technically I'm still married but separated (we still live in the same house until I get a job). I have 3 boys, 11, almost 9, and 5 who are very energetic. They are all in school (the 5 year old only 1/2 days) and I work part time at home. They are outside as much as possible unless the weather doesn't cooperate. I've been a stay-at-home mom for 11 years and now I have been trying to get a job (which is very tough in this economy) while trying to care for my kids. It's been a very difficult and stressful time but I manage to get through it every day because of my kids. They are my life and I would do anything for them.0

Thanks Ed. Sorry about all the drama in your life at the moment...I just found out a little while ago. You're a great dad...just focus on those two right now.0

I am a single mom of 3. A 14 year old girl, a 10 year old boy and a 7 year old girl. They absolutely are my life. And even though we have our challanges (the "teens", ADHD and severe independence hahaha) if we say "I love you" at bed time I know we are doing good!0
