I'm addicted to chocolate and peanut butter melted in the microwave for a snack. What can I use to get the same taste with fewer calories? Also, whats the best low calorie recipe you've had for brownies. Chocolate is my one vice and I won't give it up. Thoughts?! :)

The Vitalicious Vitatop Deep Chocolate Muffin microwaved to warm it up and spread a little peanut butter on top. Tastes like a Reese's Cup. Very good. The muffin top is 100 calories and then use only a smudge of pb...

There is a brownie mix that is low fat. I think it is called Pudge Brownie Mix, not sure. You can get it at some groceries, Trader Joe's... Google it! They taste good but are lower in calories, fat, etc.

Deep Chocolate Vitatop Muffin warmed in the microwave with a TBSP of peanut butter on top! Or you can always use a square of 70% and above dark chocolate with a TBSP of peanut butter.

I envy anybody who can eat just a little bit of chocolate at a time. If I have one piece then I end up eating it all. I have to keep it out of the house.
  • Hmm, small pieces of dark chocolate are a regular part of my diet. I like Lindt Excellence and Ghirardelli. But recently I have been getting a chocolate/peanut butter fix by having a deep chocolate vitatop (100 cals) with a half tablespoon of crunchy natural peanut butter (50 cals) smeared on top. I wasn't impressed with the vitatop alone, but with a little peanut butter it is delicious.

LOL, I see that I am not alone!

Chocolate Shakeology with a tbsp of peanut butter. It's amazing. And full of nutrients. No guilt whatsoever.

    For brownies - http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/dark_fudgy_brownies.html

they are 86 calories each, and are made with dark chocolate, making them rich (in a cocoa-y way, not milk chocolate way) a small piece definitely satisfies the sweet tooth!

    Peanut Butter Pie

Treat yourself to a light version of peanut butter pie. It tastes like eating a peanut butter and chocolate candy bar, but has only 8.2 grams of fat.

Yield: 20 servings (serving size: 1 wedge)

    Ingredients
    1 cup powdered sugar
1 (8-ounce) block light cream cheese, softened(can use fat free cream cheese also)
1 cup natural-style, reduced-fat creamy peanut butter (such as Smucker's)
    1 (14-ounce) can fat-free sweetened condensed milk
1 12-ounce tub frozen fat-free whipped topping, thawed
    2 9-inch ready-made reduced-fat graham cracker shells
4 teaspoons fat-free chocolate sundae syrup
    Preparation
Combine the first 3 ingredients in a large bowl; beat with a mixer at medium speed until smooth. Add the condensed milk, and beat until combined. Stir in the whipped topping. Divide the mixture evenly between shells; chill 8 hours or until set (pies will have a soft, fluffy texture). Cut into wedges, and drizzle with chocolate syrup.

Note: We loved this pie frozen--its texture is more like that of an ice-cream pie.

Ok, this may not sound too exciting, but my latest way to soothe the chocolate craving is pepperidge farm chocolate Graham cracker goldfish dipped in all natural peanut butter. It's really good!

Carnation "light" hot chocolate...... 45cal per mug. I'll also add 1/2 tsp of mint or coconut extract for a little extra flavor sometimes.

I make Buckeyes (chocolate covered peanut butter balls) every year for Christmas, I had quite a few left this year and when I get the sweet tooth where I need chocolate I get 1, yes just 1, out of my refrigerator and enjoy it. I trust the information I found is correct and that the calories are 100 per piece. Self control, but if you can control yourself and make something like this and just alot the calories each day and just have 1 serving, it might make that sweet tooth easier to handle.

    LOVE my Dark Chocolate Dreams!

One of my MFP friends gave me this Protein Shake Recipe

    Peanut Butter Cup Protein Shake

    1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 tblsp peanut butter (your choice and calories)
    1 tblsp unsweeteded cocoa
    1 cup of water
    about 3-5 ice cubes

Blend in your blender. With my protein powder and PB choice it's 191 calories for a BIG smoothie.
  • I was craving chocolate tonight as well. Some of these recipes sound amazing. Good luck to all!

My absolutely favorite, sort of healthy brownie, is to take a brownie mix box (of course low fat or reduced sugar!) and in place of the eggs and oil, I mix in pumpkin puree, applesauce or egg beaters. Add water until it is the consistency you like (normally about a cup).

Then bake according to the instructions. I usually put them in mini cupcake or regular cupcake pans so the serving sizes are obvious.

BTW: The pumpkin puree with chocolate cake batter is ah-mazing!
