I don't have the recipe offhand for making it fresh, but when I need a quick meal in a pinch I do 1lb ground turkey, 1 pkt McCormick original chili seasoning, a small can of tomato sauce and a can of stewed tomatoes. I either put it in the crock pot or do it on the stove according to the directions on the seasoning packet.0

I brown ground turkey, Once it is brown I add a tsp of cumin , 2 tsp of chili powder, jar of salsa and can of black beans. Depending how you like it you can add a cup of water too. Enjoy0

* 3 ozs. of lean minced beef
* 3 ozs. of kidney beans, canned and drained
* 1/2 clove of garlic
* 1/4 onion
* 1/4 green pepper
* 1/2 tsp of olive oil
* 1 small tin of chopped tomatoes (227g)
* 1 tsp of tomato puree
* 1/2 stock cube
* 1 tsp of chilli powder
* 1/4 tsp of drinking chocolate
* 1/2 tsp of mixed herbs
Method:
1. Heat the olive oil in a non-stick saucepan and cook the onion until slightly softened.
2. Add the garlic and diced pepper and cook for another few minutes.
3. Add the minced beef, brown and then drain off excess fat.
4. Stir in all other ingredients, adding more or less chilli powder to your taste. Cover and cook for 20 minutes.
With an 1oz of brown rice it comes out at 394 cals. All the above is for one person.0 -
I don't have a recipe. I just know how to make it.
I usually saute a chopped onion and when it is soft, brown a package of lean ground beef. Then I add some cumin seeds and let them cook a bit. I then add a can of diced tomatoes, a can of rinsed red kidney beans, a chopped jalapeno and some chili powder. I also add cinnamon, black pepper and salt and a square of dark chocolate.
If you can get your hands on some Lizano salsa (a condiment from Costa Rica) it adds a lovely flavour, but it isn't necessary. Some people use beef stock or a bit of red wine, but I don't.
Not a real recipe, but I hope it helps.0 -
In my earlier days when I went to one of those fast weight loss medical diets.....one of the recipes that I loved was chili.
Instead of using ground beef, I used lean pieces of veal, chopped up small, or pieces of chicken (skinless,boneless) instead of the ground beef. Also, weight loss clinic recipe recommended romano beans instead of the regular kidney beans, unsalted canned tomatoes--put them in blender to chop/puree,and a TBSP of tomato paste (for thickening) plus chili pepper flakes for seasoning, and I also added approx. 3/4 Teasp of cumin as well. (For the chicken I would place the cut chicken pieces in gently boiling water, for a few minutes, prior to including in recipe, I also added pam to pan and 1/2 tsp of olive oil to saute one small onion, then added chopped clove of garlic. I also added one small cut up zuccini and one diced red pepper, and one can diced (or fresh mushrooms) to pot. Mix all ingredients. (I didn't use any salt, but did use freshly ground pepper as well). Simmer for 35-40 minutes on stove.
Hope this helps0
