Trying to lose on my own I have not been very successful. Lost 28 lbs. following southbeach last year only to turn around and gain it all back. I feel so much better when I'm eating right...no fried foods and no sweets . Have more heartburn and feel bloated when overeating or eating late at night. I have a very stressful job and have finally realized I am a stress eater and need to find a healthy way to deal with my stress. You can't just stop and go take a walk when you are in the middle of work. Am going to start packing some healthier snack choices when I'm stressing out. Need to start drinking water- never been good at that and need to cut food off at 7p.m. Also would like to start taking some short walks to begin with and gradually increase. Starting to experience some health problems due to being overweight sothink it is time to get started. Please wish me good luck I am going to need it.

Hello... fellow nurse here. Haha, yeah I wish we could just leave and take a walk when things get hectic! Good luck, and friend me if you would like. I have a lot to lose and would love to have the support and be here to help others too.0

You and I fit the same profile! I am also a stress or emotional eater. I eat when I am upset, I eat to celebrate, I eat out of boredom, etc. etc. I have been dabbling in the "CLEAN" diet by Alejandro Junger. I am nursing so I cannot commit to the full diet, but the parts I have been doing work really well. Basically, I have been making juices and smoothies out of organic produce. Oddly, my favorite is a juice made from kale, spinach, cucumber, carrots, apple and lemon. I am finding that this really helps curb my appetite. Also, oddly enough after just a few days my body actually craves healthy food which is something totally new for me. I love to exercise too, but in my experience it is not an effective way to lose weight. Exercise is great for mental attitude, strengthening your body inside and out and relieving stress though! In my experience unless you have hours a day to devote to exercise (who does???) you just have to get your diet under control. For me, this is a daily struggle. Good luck!!!0

You can do this! Shop and pack your own foods, do drink lots of water (keep a water bottle handy at all times!), and yes, those short walks will do wonders to get you moving. Starting small is smart and then build on your efforts week to week. It is sometimes hard to make yourself get out and walk, but I promise you, you will always feel better after you have walked! It can really boost your mental/emotional state! The night time eating is a difficult issue (at least for me) but think your 7pm deadline is great. Drink a lot of water and brush your teeth at 7 to help avoid raiding the pantry and frig (easier said than done, I know!). Make this a lifestyle choice versus a diet. I successfully lost 40+ pounds last year and am now in maintenance mode. Feel free to friend me if you would like. My diary is public though so you can always peruse that for ideas.0

You'll be great, I've noticed I always eat worse when I don't pack my own food before coming to work, so I feel ya there. Feel free to friend me if you want extra support\10

GOod luck to you! I am trying to get healthy also, in addition to losing the weight. It has been a lifelong problem - always the chubby kid or teenager.... ;( We can all do this together. This site is wonderful - full of people willing to support and motivate each other. I just can't say enough good things about it.
You can friend me if you'd like.0 -
Good luck, add me as a friend we all need to support eachpther. I understand you completley I have a high stress job as well and work shift work so I sturggle with making a healthy meal choice. it usually about convience the health, but what can I say we all just need to take it day by day and one meal at a time. :flowerforyou:0

I think this is a great site. You can friend me. I just joined this month too and have lost 2 lbs so far following the guidelines. I am trying to keep motivated this time! I lost weight some years ago on Weight Watchers, but it all came back on when I stopped going. I like this because it's always 'open', no meetings, no cost and it works! I just keep thinking of a saying I saw on here -most people are living for the moment, not for what they want most.0

I will look that "clean" diet up. never heard of that one - but I really enjoy healthy food it's just hard to find time to stick with that lifestyle change but I think it is defintly time to make a change. Thanks for your support and ideals.0

never ending constant vigilence---- Man--- it's hard. Just keep plugging away, in the end it's about running, jumping, and playing like the other children, for as long as we can. For the young-ins--- it's about looking good too-- I'm beyond that. don't give in, you fall off the horse, just get back on--- keep goin till beyond the sunset. I'm with you.0
