I neeeeed some tips to stop myself from caving in and eating the ice cream in the freezer or the cookies in the cupboard! I'm not even hungry, I'm just bored and I think about how yum they will taste. What can I do or say to stop myself from eating them!?!

I always think of how I will feel afterwards. I know I'll probably have a tummyache from the ice cream, and feel all full in a bad way. And you know that you'll just be hungry in an hour anyway. If none of this works I have a teaspoon and that's it. I don't usually have ice cream in the house though. And cookies are gone because I can't help myself around them!

Aldo, staring at the calorie information on the side of the carton will put me off, esp when I see how much fat there is in ice cream.

With ice cream, I can eat just a little (I'll put some in a 1/4c sauce cup) and be satisfied. Cookies, I can eat a whole bag if I'm not careful  If just a little won't do the trick, try chewing gum until the craving goes away. That works for me sometimes.

My mum bought me all this sweet/junk food thinking she was doing something really nice for me and this was the week where I was going to stop caving to my cravings. It makes me so bad and guilty, like she thought she was doing something nice but it was really the worst thing for what I wanted this week. I don't want to throw it all out because she's spent her money on it etc etc. I think I will just have to use good old will power. That tip about reading the calories and fat content is a good one. One ice-cream is 300 calories, that's more than what my dinner was worth...

If you have a lot of junk at home I would seriously recommend giving it away. I give mine to friends and family when I get chocolate boxes, cookies etc. which stops me from being tempted. And it makes me look so generous, when really im being totally selfish because I love the way I'm looking at the moment! Tell your mum that you are really enjoying fruit lately and maybe ask her to pick you up some next time instead? Fresh fruit can be vey expensive so if she's willing to spend the money she may as well do it on something you'll enjoy eating (during AND afterwards!).

I wrote on little slips of paper, a bunch of activities to do instead of mindless eating. Put the slips in a jar in my kitchen. Now when I have a craving I pull out a slip of paper and do what it tells me to do. Examples: Clean 2 bathrooms. 2 sets of 25 burpees. Send my mom an email. You get the idea. Usually after I've done whatever is on the slip of paper the craving has disappeared. Usually...not always. :)
