So I just downloaded the phone app as recommended by a friend of mine and had no idea that there was an online community to go along with it! I have wanted to lose weight for the past 5 or so years now but have never really TRIED to. I have gained about 35 lbs in the past 7 years and am SO over being this size. So I recently agreed to a Biggest Loser challenge with my sister in law and hope to be able to lose at least 20-30 lbs by my birthday (which is only 3 months away- yikes!) I have some money on the line and an added incentive of having my 10 year high school reunion this year! I am dead set on looking as good as (if not better than) I did in high school
I know this isn't going to be easy (I have a fear of failing and a love of food) and it is going to take real commitment and lots of planning, and sweating...but I am starting to realize that I deserve it. So for the next few months I am going to be working on changing my eating habits and building a habit of working out (and trying to like it).
I would really love any suggestions or personal stories to keep me motivated!!

Hi, and welcome,
All i can say is add as many people as possible to your friends list, it really helps to keep you motivated, put a picture of a motivation somewhere you see it every day, and keep reminding yourself why your doing this!
it will be worth it in the end!
GOOD LUCK x0 -
Hey! Welcome to MFP and congrats on wanting to change your life... not just diet! That's the reason I joined. I was sick of going back and forth on my weight. I am now changing my life-style to better my weight!
My suggestion is to stick with it. The first month is the toughest. So many temptations to just eat the way you used to. But after 4-6 weeks it becomes habit and second nature to eat the healthy options! I know you can do it, and having those goals to meet will help all the more!
Also, I agree with the previous post. Get very involved in the MFP community! Add active users to your friends, and you will get some incredible support! It's really awesome and totally helps keep you motivated!0 -
Woohoo and welcome! I am newer as well and I love it. Keeps my a** in line!0

To any one looking for peer support: You can do it!
hello all! im new to this as well, one of the girls at my college told me about m.f.p and said it would be helpful. My weight fluctuates horribly its always a struggle to keep my waist line in check.,..the june to december of 2009 i lost about 60lbs and was very proud of myself....and then depression hit and i gained all but 7lbs back...now i am determined to lose it all again!
I have a wonderful man that wants to make me his bride in a couple years and id really like to look the best that i can for us. I'm only 20...im too young to be this big.
LETS DO THIS! woooot!!0 -
Congratulations on making the decision to better your life! My story very different from yours. I have always been on the heavier side and I have always hated myself for it. Although my husband tells me everyday that I am beautiful and he loves me, however, I have never loved me. I also have decided that I deserve it as well- for me and my love! I am wanting to lose about 65 pounds by the fall...BIG TASK!! But I am working out 3 times a day and one of those workouts is P90X! I am going to launch a Biggest Loser Challenge at my school (I am a teacher) too and hope to get the extra Motivation. Do you have a person to workout with? That is always great for accountability and motivation. Let me know what I can do to help you and I will do the same.0
