Small meals vs. larger ones

I like to eat sporadiacally throughout the day (who doesn't?) but I would like my snacking to make me feel fuller so that I don't eat a lot at meals. I've heard of a lot of people doing 5-6 small meals each day instead of 3 larger ones. So for those of you that do that, what does a typically day look like for you food wise?

My personal trainer wants me to eat a lot of protein and has set up the following for me and it is working so far (it's the amount of food that will vary for your calorie range, and obvously mix and make subs to not get bored) - I have a 1600-1700 calorie range for fat burn (before workingout) and I work out a lot - this is just one day example with options...

    1. (Breakfast) Oatmeal, egg whites (scrambled or hard boiled) you can replace the oatmeal with another type of grain or with whole wheat toast

    2. (Snack) low fat cottage cheese with a banana or some cut up raw veggies

    3. (Lunch) Chicken, veggies, 3/4 cup brown rice

    4. (Snack) 4 oz of a protein (chicken, steak, fish, tofu, beans) with a sweet potato or more brown rice (Or Protein Shake, Meal Bar, Or sub from above, etc)

    5. (Dinner) Fish and Broccoli (no carbs except from veggies after 5 pm unless you do do a big workout)

    6. Protein Shake before bed
