cupcake= stomachache

So I've been with mfp for about three weeks now. With that I've been eating healthy and working out. Today I had some family visit and they wanted to go to Sprinkles, this cupcake bakery in Beverly Hills. So I ate one cupcake, one! Afterwards I had a stomachache and headache that lasted hours!
It seems my body can't handle that amount of sugar. (Looked up the stats on it when I got back that one cupcake had 27 grams of fat and almost 500 calories!)
On one had its good. I'm not going to crave sugar if I know I'm going to feel horrible afterwards. On the other hand it's bad because if family is in town I don't want to rain on everyones cupcake party by refusing to eat one.
Has anyone else experienced this? Their body not being able to handle certain foods anymore?

If you go from eating really healthy to eating something crappy again, it can make you sick. Ever seen "Super Size Me?" The first time the guy eats at McDonald's he barfs it up all over the place. Think of it as your body's way of saying, "What the hell do you think you're doing to me?" :bigsmile:0

Don't worry no one will notice at an office party or family gathering if you take one and just push it around on your plate then throw it away later when no one is looking. That works better for me because it is just less of a big deal for everyone then I do not get the extra calories and they do not give me a hard time about it or try to pressure me into it. Just quietly take it, push it around the throw it away or better yet Say gosh I would love to go to Sprinkles but I just ate a huge meal.0

That happened to me at the superbowl party this year. I tried to indulge in Queso dip and a Sangria. That turned out pretty ugly. Let's just say I won't be doing THAT again anytime soon...LOL0

I can't handle greasy foods anymore, it makes me really ill. And I go for desserts in moderation now. I prefer the smaller sized cupcakes, they're a good portion size. The jumbo cupcakes are too much! I cut them in half if they are too big. I went a little food crazy on a business trip and had 3 beers and ice cream and red velvet cake in one night, I felt SO sick. And there was a time I had a piece of brick oven pizza (all grease) and I was ill all afternoon at work. It's definitely a change, I don't have an appetite for greasy foods anymore. but I do still love sweets as long as it's a small piece.0

At Walmart and Giant Eagle at the Bakery they have those Mini-Cupcakes so if you do want a cupcake, it's not big/huge could always try to start with that if you want a sweet now and then.0

There are a lot of things that make me feel sick if I try to eat them now.
Cake is one of them. We got a cake for super bowl sunday and I had a small piece and I was ill. A lot of different foods I seem to be more sensitive to. I've eaten a generally raw diet for the most part for about 2 months or so, not entirely, but what I do eat that is not raw is healthy with no additives, preservatives and lower amounts of sugar, so yeah. I know exactly what you mean.
My doctor explained it was probably because in a lot of ways I have detoxed and cleansed my body and am only putting healthy foods in it now, and anything that isn't healthy or has bad stuff in it, is probably going to make me sick. Aye aye aye. I haven't craved cake since though, so that's a good thing! (And I LOVED cake!)
I have some recipes for low-sugar or natural sugar cakes and other items using different ingredients than normal, so once I try those I'll post them. Especially if they are yummy.0
