Anyone have any suggestions on a side dish or dessert I can bring to work for a pot luck? I've been googling but coming up short!

I always bring a yummy salad. Lately this one is a favourite at dinner parties, I keep getting requests. And it's so so easy.

And dessert I usually make fruit skewers:

(edited to add the fruit skewer recipe in!)0 -
Deviled Eggs, Sweet potato fries (they are fun!), lasagna, roasted vegetables, a simple chicken stir-fry, baked macaroni and cheese, any kind of pie!0

I've been to quite a few potlucks in the last year, and I've come to enjoy looking forward to the spinach and raspberry salad, no idea what else is in there or how to make it but the person who brings it does a dang good job.
Try some of the desert recipes on here, the brownies, hmm they were a recent post over the weekend, brownies where they asked about using bananas instead of apple-sauce because it's what they had available. I made them and thoroughly enjoyed em.

though I will mention that i used my home-made brownie recipe rather than one from a box, but since they were for the same quantity/size of brownies to be made it was a straight substitution for that part.0 -
Brandied Fruit Compote (and it can be done in the crock pot for easy, convenient cooking)
Makes 12-14 servings.
2 (8 oz) pkgs dried fruit mixed fruit
1 c diced dried pineapple
2/3 c dried cranberries
1/2 c golden raisins
1 med orange
1/2 c honey
2 c hot water
3/4 tsp ground allspice
1/2 c brandy (don't worry it cooks off so you won't get a buzz)
Frozen yogurt or ice cream (optional)
Combine mixed fruit, pineapple, cranberries, and raisins in slow cooker. Remove a thin layer of orange part of peel from orange; cut into very thin strips. Squeeze juice from orange. Add peel, juice, honey, water, and allspice to slow cooker, stirring until honey is dissolved.
Cover and cook on LOW 5 to 6 hrs or until fruit is plump and tender. Stir in brandy; cool. Serve in a compote or over frozen yogurt or ice cream.

Very healthy and very yummy. Can be served as dessert or as side dish with pork or chicken dishes.0 -
I make a really tasty chocolate mousse that is about 100 calories per serving, but tastes like it would be much worse for you. it is almost fat and sugar free, but no one will ever guess that. I added the recipe to the database, but it is really easy.
1 pkg jello instant suagr free chocolate pudding
skim milk
1 container fat free cool whip
1 cup mini marshmallows
Mix milk and pudding per box directions
Fold in coolwhip and marshmallows
Let sit in fridge for atleat an hour, over night is even better
ENJOY!0 -
This is always a hit...
Death by Chocolate

1 package low fat brownie mix (prepared)
3 packages Light Chocolate mousse mix (I use Oetker), Prepared
3 Skor bars (crushed)
1 container Cool Whip lite
Prepare brownies as per package directions, when cool crumble.
Prepare mousse as per package directions.
In a large glass bowl, such as a punch bowl or something you would use for a
trifle layer the ingredients as follows.
* 1/3 of the brownies
* 1/3 of the mousse mix
* 1/3 of the skor bar
* 1/3 of the cool whip
Repeat this 3 times.
This is great to take to a large get together it serves about 24 people0 -
I just took this cake into work and had to take the recipe in the next day for numerous coworkers...
Better than Sex Cake (weight watchers recipe)
1 box devil's food cake mix
10 ounces diet cola
1 egg white
6 ounces fat free, sugar free caramel topping
7 ounces fat free sweetened condensed milk
8 ounces Heath toffee bits
8 ounces fat free cool whip
1. Mix cake mix, egg white and diet soda.
2. Bake as directed in a greased 9 x 13 pan.
3. During the last few minutes of baking, put caramel and condensed milk in a small saucepan and stir on medium low heat until smooth.
4. Take cake out of oven and poke holes all over the top. (I use a wooden skewer or the end of a hand mixer beater)
5. Pour warm caramel mixture over warm cake, filling in the holes.
6. Sprinkle half of the Heath bits over the top.
7. Cool completely.
8. "Frost" with cool whip and sprinkle remaining Heath bits over cake.
9. Refridgerate until ready to serve.
