Ok I was the adkins diet being strict with it.. and I did lose weight.. well I started to not feel well so I decided to go off of it..but still watch my carbs just not the strict 20 or less....well I havent lost weight in the past few days...but Im thinking its because of the increase of carbs.. I only do up to 80 if that.... but I did realize I need to eat healthier with veggies... Did anyone else notice that going off that diet you didnt lose anything right away? Just curious.....

  • when I'm on track............I go by NET carbs. And that's easily done while eating veggeis because of the amount of fiber. I try not to go over 60 net carbs a day. More of a Primal/Paleo outlook......

your body might be adjusting and that's why you have stalled a bit. I don't agree with Atkins for a long term solution (not that I am an expert by any means!). go with good quality starchy carbs in the morning and lunch or snack and perhaps try to really have only a small amount for dinner. ie. 1/4 cup of brown rice at dinner max. that should help.

As you probabaly know you can get carbs from fruit - so sub those in instead at dinner. that might help.

I have found Steel cut Oats are really filling and have been eating them in the morning. Those have good protein as well.

Quinoa, brown rice, yams etc would probably also be good bets as well. But don't go too crazy with them

your body will re-adjust (i'm betting) and you will continue to lose weight.

    keep it going!
  • I was on Atkins about 5-6 years ago and it helped me to shed about 30 lb in 3 months. After that for maintenance I stayed under 65-75 and kept weight of untill I got pregnant. I think thats a pretty good number to have a lots of vegies and fruits. I'm trying to loose my baby weight, about 20-25 lb and low cal & fat I've been on didnt work for me. I started Atkins about two weeks ago, but not as strict. Im trying to stay under 35 and that's a good number to eat a good amount of my veggies. I'm already seeing results, but not as drastic as staying under 20 grams previously. Personally, I dont think that staying under 20 for a long time is healthy.

You might want to lower your carbs little bit... maybe try 40 for a couple of weeks and then add some more but slowly. You maybe be retainining water if you started eating starchy foods. Good luck and keep going!
  • Yes,
i did it for a while and I lost a lot a first. Then I felt strange. I got off it and actually gained weight.
I am sure you will be fine once you get back in the rythem of eating properly.
I was also told that that diet is not good for you. Something do to with Katosis?
Anyways...the Army had banned it because soldiers were passing out because you get your energy from good carbs.
So you are doing the right thing. My doctor just said try to watch the carbs and keep them low.
  • I do the low carbs have been doing it for months now ,, lost almost all my weight by doing it .. when I got stuck I switched to low cal and fat free and then back on low carbs ... seems as though I dont feel right when I take in too many carbs or too much sweets when I cheat .. I dont stay strict for the entire week I do take a day to eat whatever I want mainly because we are on the go on weekends ... but i try to stay at around 30 carbs a day or makes me feel not so good ... thats just for me though
