So I started this and today was my full, normal day on my diet, and I got light headed, my knees got weak and I felt like throwing up (because I drank so much water [almost two liters]). I have had this constant growling in my stomach all day.

Myfitness put me on 1200 a day, is that enough?

Hmmm... how many pounds are you looking to lose a week? 1200 seems pretty low...
  • I know what you mean, I started a diet and I am supposed to get 1578 cal/day but the past couple days only got 900 - 1100 and get light headed. Are you exercising? Maybe your not getting enough calories to balance the calories you are burning off.
  • yes it is enough but if you are doing a drastic change its gonna be tough on your body. What you need to do is slowly lower your calorie intake to 1200...

so if you normally consume 2000 calories lower it by 100 each day, till you hit your 1200

but eventually your body will get use to it =) good luck!

I found the first two weeks hard too. I still feel very hungry sometimes. Your stomach will shrink as you become accustomed to smaller portions. You will learn to eat large portions of calorie light foods or protiens. I recommend large green portions and hard boiled egg whites with hummus. These can make a huge filling meal. You'll find other recipes, too. Stick with it before you decide to up your calories or exercise and eat your exercise cals. You'll still lose. When I realized i was losing at a slightly higher rate (2lbs not 1.5) after 5 weeks on MFP, I upped my cals by 50. Good luck!
  • One of the best tips I got was to eat a can of tuna when you're craving protein, not many calories and it helps hunger.
