Cyclic Bingeing

Well, after almost four weeks on this plan, it's no small wonder I'm dealing with this right now...my monthly insatiable hunger - and it really IS hunger, not just a craving. Honestly, I can eat twice as much easily for two days each month than I do any other day of the month. I'm wondering if other women have this issue, and how they cope? What can I eat that'll maybe keep me full without ruining the diet? For now, I've done far better than usual, and I'm going to try to exercise off at least some of the extra calories today.
Welcome any ideas.

Oh girl- I am the SAME way... I upped my water intake for a few weeks.. and honestly that did seem to help last month. That's my attack plan this month as well. Oh- and high cal and (good) fat, low sugar/ sodium foods.. like raw almonds and avacado (halves) added to meals/ snacks helped on thos rough days.
I'll keep checking in here for suggestions as well... :-) good luck and hang in there!!0 -
I feel ya! I also have about 2 days where I could eat until passing out in a food coma. Honestly, I havent found my solution for this other than just telling my self NO. That doesnt always work though. I do my best to exercise like mad on those days or the days after if Im not feeling up to it at the time. This is one of the joys we get to face as women! ~

I definitely have this problem every month. I try not to stress about it. I have de-junked my house so I don't binge on snack and junk foods. When TOM is here and I feel that ravenous hunger I allow myself to eat until I'm satisfied (within reason). I definitely go over on those days too but I find that it does not usually ruin my weight loss efforts. As long as I keep exercising and drinking lots of water etc.
I heard that the body actually burns more calories during TOM anyway which is probably why even after eating more than I usually do I still manage to maintain my weight.
Eat sensibly, continue to load up on healthy foods just increase your portion size slightly during those hungry days. Also, if you do feel like chocolate or cookies or something like that allow yourself to have it & then be done with it. It'll satisfy your craving.0 -

I agree completely!! I use to fight it and was miserable! Now I listen to my body and give it what it needs. Yeah, it slows my weight loss down but it does not stop it. Now if I was to keep eating that way the rest of the month, then there would be a problem. Just be honest with WHY you are over eating. Eat out of hunger and don't find other excuses to keep eating. Even the thin, skinny people have days where they eat more than they should; they just don't do it everyday!0 -
I have major problems with that too!! I tend to notice it shortly before my menstral cycle and I can't get full enough! What I notice that helps is to drink a lot of water. I'm on the same boat as you, and we can get through it! I sometimes put some Crystal Light in my water too, making sure that there's lots of ice cubes so it's really cold (colder water I hear burns more calories because it needs to warm up to your own body temperature). Good luck!

I don't know much about it but I have recently came across the concept or "refeeding" type it into google to see what its about. I would try to describe it but I don't want to mess up the information about it. I hope that helps0

I just go with the flow (excuse the terrible pun)! My body is quite good at accepting hunger the rest of the month, so when it becomes overpowering I figure my body really needs it.0
