Hello everyone,

I've been using this site for about 2 weeks now... and I just wanted to say that I think it's been really great. I like being able to see what I'm actually eating and being able to pay more attention to it.

First thing this morning I had 3 wisdom teeth removed. One was a soft tissue extraction (they just pulled it out), and the other 2 were complete bone impaction and had to be chiselled out of my jaw. For the first 24 hours after my surgery, for which they gave me four units of deep sedation for, I can only have cool fluids... no soup, nothing solid (it's taken me all day to eat one jello-cup, a tiny painful bite at a time). It's a good thing that I'm in too much pain and on too many painkillers to be hungry, because I am well under my calorie requirement for the day... I understand that it's temporary and not like it's something I'm doing on a regular basis, so I'm not freaking out about it or anything.

Anyway, the meds have me loopy and restless, so I figured I'd post here just to have something to do.

Wow! That was extensive! Follow their directions well! My daughter wanted a milkshake afterward and they told her not to drink out of a straw for a couple of days. Use a spoon. Take care and hang in there! :flowerforyou:

    Thanks to you both!

I'm actually feeling a bit better than I expected to be feeling... I was half expecting to wake up in the ICU 3 days from now, as I have a lot of really severe allergies to medications that are adult onset, and I have never had any of the stuff that they gave me during surgery before. lol The surgeon was pretty concerned about the possibility, but it was my lucky day!

I'm really looking forward to being able to have some soup tomorrow. I love soup so very, very much. It's pretty much the best thing ever. And I'm looking forward to being able to at least rinse my mouth... it's not very cool that you can't rinse it for 24 hours, let alone brush for a couple days (and even then, only very carefully and nowhere near the surgical site).

And yea, that completely sucks that you had 5 rawrim4f4tty... I totally understand how much that would suck.

I remember when I had my wisdom teeth out (a few years ago). Mine were all surgical removal and I could barely eat for a week. I lost 7 lbs that week!

I also discovered that if you want to eat something bad enough, you'll find a way. My family had bacon and I wanted some so I slowly chewed little pieces of it with my front teeth. It hurt, but bacon was worth it to me.

I was lucky in that I had already experienced having 4 teeth out at once so I knew how to eat.

Too funny, because cold bacon is the other best thing in the world besides soup... and there's a bunch in my fridge. I almost cried with want when I got home from the surgery and opened the fridge. haha
