Its hard to lose the weight and make sure I am eating healthy because my mom always buys this junk food for my sibilings and it is hard sometimes to not eat some. I am just done with it. I hate the way I look and am tired of people saying things about me. I am 18 I should be having an amazing time its my senior year after all but instead I am feeling insecure and I am just hoping to shed the pounds and look HOT for graduation. I just need help from people to keep me motivated and be my support.

Sit down and ask your family for help, if you all do it together reguardless of them needing to or not, you need their support!! Try hiding the treats, or get them to hide them where you wont look if they absolutly need them.0

Welcome! This is a great place to start! Is there any way to get your mom onboard? At least to cut out the worst offenders? Have some healthy snacks on hand that you can grab. You don't want to make the junk food more conveinient. If you can even go for 6 weeks, that gives you some time to re-train your taste buds.
Best wishes!0 -
I too went through that and the worst part is that you probably have tried to feel "normal" your whole life. I would love to help support you if you would like. I hated being the biggest teenager and not having a date to the homecoming dinner. I really feel for you, young lady and if you ever need to talk, lets.
Sincerely,

Consider talking to your mom about making healthier lifestyle changes not just for you but for the whole family...buying healthier snack foods at the grocery store and preparing healthier meals. Everyone needs to eat well regardless of their weight or body shape. If that isn't possible, then you're going to have to kick up your own will power (VERY difficult, I know, but not impossible). If you do resist eating the junk food, in no time at all, it becomes less and less of a temptation. You can do it!0

It's hard when there's junk food in the house. I'm trying to change my family's habits, but still stuck w/buying chips, etc. Try to find healthy alternatives in the house that you really like. Like for me, I love fish. So, while my family has spagetti for dinner, I have a piece of baked fish & steamed veg. or a can of tuna.....and so on. It is tough at times, but stick w/it. My mind set has changed now to where some of those things aren't options anymore. You can do it. Have faith in yourself!0

1) Don't push too hard for your looks to be the center of your self esteem/crux of your great time having. I was overweight for pretty much all of highschool and people can be douches, but focus on your friends and experiencing life and fun now. Everyone thinks "When I'm thin I'll be____" happy, better, etc. Don't wait for your body to start living! And remember- being thin isn't a cure all- "If you aren't enough without it, you'll never be enough with it."
2)That all being said- I applaud your efforts to live a healthier lifestyle- it's so hard at home. My best advice- when your mom brings home the junky foods, portion out 1 or 2 serving of each of those you like for yourself (tell your mom you want to do this first - they get a little testy when you do stuff without running it by them). This way you can enjoy without over doing it! (PS I have junk food plenty and still lose, I just have it much less and much more mindfully than before)
3) Be patient- you won't be perfect by graduation, don't push to be. Sure the pics would be great if you "looked perfect" but they will document a period in your life when you were undergoing change. In many ways that's kind of perfect for HS graduation.
4) Related note- make sure you eat ENOUGH! Don't try to starve your way to a perfect body in time for the event (tempting though it may be). Not eating enough can be just as detrimental to your health (and the pace at which you lose) as eating too much. Try to make sure that in your Daily summary, your NET calories are as close to your GOAL calories as possible. When MFP assigns you 1200 calories, it's time to slow down your weight loss and up your cals a little.
Slow and steady- you can do this!
Best of luck!0 -
Unfortunately is is difficult to live around food that is sabatoging your weight loss efforts. But the truth is, there will always be food around that is bad for weight loss and healthy living. Trying to convince your family to not buy goodies won't work either. And when you live away from home, there will be other places you will have to fight the food issue.
This is a difficult process, no doubt about it. But it isn't impossible! Once you start to lose weight, maybe some others in your family will follow your example and get healthier too (or, maybe not).
You have the power to change your whole family! Be patient with them. No one wants to change - even if it is the best thing for them.
Good luck. Make some friends here who will support you. You can do this,0
