Why Wait to Live?

This was my vanity plates on my PT Cruiser when I first got it. It's my version of "Live for Today." I have always felt very strongly about this mantra. Last Friday my sister Wendy's father-in-law Larry went in to the doctor feeling sick and having pains in his abdomen. They found that it was his gallbladder and planned to remove it. They also found a tumor on his liver. The biopsy was malignant. After extensive tests they found that the cancer was throughout his body. He was told on Monday that he had days to live. Last night he flat lined but because his mom hadn't made it into town yet they revived him and had him on life-support until she had a chance to say her goodbyes. She's with him now and in a couple of hours they will take him off of life-support.

Why am I sharing this story with you? Just to remind you that life is shorter than you think and can change in a heartbeat. Please don't put your dreams on hold, remember to hug your loved ones and to tell them you love them often. No one ever said "Dad told me he loved me too much!"

    OMG, what a horrible story, and yet, you are right, it could happen to any of us at any time. So sorry you and your family are going thru that. May God take good care of all of you during this difficult time.

    Someone who lived down the street from me was a good, good friend of my older brother (grew up together). 4 years ago, he's playing soccer with his friends. He hurt himself and for some reason it wouldn't heal. He finally went in to get it checked. He found out at that time he had Stage 4 Lung Cancer. He died a few weeks later. He was 36.

    Thank you. It has been extra hard on Wendy and her husband Chris. Wendy is 6.5 months pregnant and it was hard for them to know that Larry won't see the baby.

    Yes, I've learned not to challenge Karma by saying things couldn't get worse. Too many time they prove me wrong.:noway:
