fish oil supplements

So I have just recently started taking fish oil because I was diagnosed with high cholesterol. Just a few quick questions about them. I was told to consume 3000 mg's a day which means I have to take 3 of them. on the bottle it says consume preferably with food throughout the day. I was wondering if it is bad to take them all at once? Does it make them less effective? I also am starting off slow, taking one a day and slowly upping my dosage as to not get the effects of the fishy burps. However I am currently taking 2 a day, but take them both about 30 mins to an hour before going to bed. Is this okay too? Or does time and how many at a time have no effect? I don't know whether I have just a really good brand of fish oil, or if it is because I am taking them at night but I have yet to experience any of the fishy side effects!

Maybe take two in the morning and one at night?
If you are worried about fishy burps then put your pills in the freezer. Freezing them allows the capsules to get past your stomach before breaking open. Since it's past your stomach, if you do burp it won't be fishy.
I have had two people tell me to do this. One is a nurse practitioner (my instructor in nursing school) and the other is a clinical nurse specialist (at the nutritionists office).0 -
If they aren't giving you any side affects, it's probably fine......Ok side story. I give the fish oil supplements to my son and I warned him not to bite them, but he's a 'hard way learner" and he bit right into it. You should have seen his face lmao0

But yea, so far I haven't had any of the side effects and have been taking 2 every night. Just curious on if they have the same effect0 -

My son did exactly the same...he said he was going to lick the doormat to get rid of the taste! I forgot to tell him that they're not chewable0 -

there are actually chewable versions of it for kids, that I was going to get but they are such a low dosage I would have had to take about 30 to get 3000 mg!0
