Plateau vexation

With the help of myfitnesspal, healthy eating and 5 to 6 days of training a week (give or take time constraints and a toddler) I've lost nearly 28lbs.

However, in the past month I've not lost anymore weight although I train as much as always. Perhaps my regular Zumba classes don't cut it as they did when I started. I used to burn nearly if not over 500 calories...now I'm lucky if I break 400 calories burn. I've added a 20 minute elliptical workout to log in more burned calories (I can burn up to 600 cal per training session) Myfitnesspal set my calorie intake to 1200, am I too lower that now being that I'm almost at my halfway point? Anyone out there know why I'm plateauing? Help!!!

I'm not a certified personal trainer or anything but I imagine u need to mix up your workouts. When I plateuxed I started Gymming for three days in a row then have two days off then gym one day and have a day off. I also incorporated two weight training sessions per week, one session of pilates, long walks outside, upped my incline and speed on the treadmill every other week and upped my level on Elliptical every other week. It worked as it makes me feel like I'm constantly struggling slightly to complete my workout. The trick is to keep challenging yourself. I also eat back half of my exercise calories.

the thing i see most advised is slightly change your weekly loss goal, if it's set to 2 right now, trying setting it to 1.5 instead, it will up your cals a bit, and may give your body the kickstart to start losing again, and then you can try changing it again.

get a heart rate monitor and vary your workouts in the various zones. can't tell from your note if you have one or not. seems to have made a difference for me. and feed your body, don't deprive it.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I actually did buy a HRM (PolarWatch) and I really like knowing how much I burn. Trust you me, I like to eat all my extra credit calories, ;) Perhaps I should reduce my weight lost to 1.5, see were it takes me. I've also scheduled a personal trainer hr to ask more questions about problem areas and so forth.

    Thanks a lot everybody!!
