Hello all,

I just wanted to introduce myself. I am new and it seems like the way the site is supposed to operate. My name is Angie and I have been trying to lose weight since I got depo shots in 2001 and swelled up to 178 pounds. I have tried diet pills, running 4 miles a day, not eating at all, my jaw was broken and wired shut for 2 weeks (not for weight loss purposes but it worked), metabolism enhancers, fat wraps, sweat belts, trips that were way too long in the sauna, and just about anything else you can think of. I am not sure whether this will work or not but for my career I am obligated to stay in shape and I get so tired of having to be taped. It is humiliating. Of all the things I have done, I have lost maybe all of 10 pounds (jaw surgery) but it came back immediately. My goal is to not have to worry about being taped again and to look better for myself and my husband.

  • I think MFP will help you, sounds like you need to drink more water and get off those depo shots! Keep your chin up!

This site WILL work for you. It doesn't take much effort. Be honest in your food logging, stay within the daily allowances, exercise a bit, drink plenty of water & it will come off. Not instantly, but you will see results SOON. I was a bit skeptical when I started here. I didn't have high expectations. What did I have to lose? LOL weight
  • All of those techniques you've tried didn't work because they really don't work. At least not for the long term. Running is a great way to lose weight, but if you're consuming more calories than you're burning you aren't going to see the weight loss. It took me years to figure that out! Diet pills and starvation? Not going to help you.

Losing weight is very simple.. it's calories in and calories out. I think this site will help you. Use it consistently. It will give you perspective, help you plan your meals, and it WILL help you lose weight! I had no idea how many calories I was consuming on a daily basis until I started using this site. I was like WOW! Now I track what I eat and all that exercise is finally paying off and I'm seeing results. Good luck. I'm in the military too so I know how it is =)

    Welcome,

First of all I would suggest you to go to a doctor just to check if you have something not well balanced that would avoid you from loosing fat (I went and I had some hormonal things to adjust. It helped a lot.)

Then, MPF is a great tool because it teaches you that in order to consume calories, you must burn them - imagine like it was before refrigerators were invented, you would be chasing your food :)

    Good luck!
