Ive noticed that over the last couple of weeks, (aside from my binge weekend from hell) I have had better days on the days that i eat higher carbs. At first I was trying to stick around 140 carbs with 20 g of fiber and 100 g of protein.

Lately Ive noticed my carbs around 150-160 with 25 or so fiber and 80-90 protein and I am feeling better and sticking to this better.. Is this ok? should I try harder to my regular goals or just listen to what my body is telling me?

  • the higher fiber, the more weightloss. 25-30 g is what people should get on a daily basis, bumping it up to 40-50 if they are diabetic.

There are some people that do better at different levels of different things. I do well with carbs. What is great about tracking your food, is that you can look over the last month or three and see what has been working for YOU. Not to mention, what ever keeps you on track, (in a healthy way, of course) is probably good.

edited to add: I agree with the fiber comment in the above post. Plus, complex carbs are best.

I'm not sure if the higher carbs will help you or slow you down, but as long as it doesn't stop you, you should be good. My carb allowance is about 176 per day and I usually eat about 50-75% of my allowance. Don't get me wrong I LOVE CARBS. I could never do a carb free diet because I would binge on them due to my craving them. For me, I just found that I substitute some things (like instead of a sandwich with two slices of bread) I use a Flatout light wrap. It curbs my cravings for carbs and you can put anything in a wrap. As your body adjusts you should be able to lower your carb percentage slightly each couple weeks, but if you are going to binge because you are craving them, then I say you would be better off eating them. I would just try to stay under my limit if possible. Good Luck!
