Abs are the only muscle group you can work every day. My favorite thing to do!!

I also usually try and hit abs everyday. Switch up your different ab exercises so your hitting upper and lower. I also try and do 50 regular crunches in the morning as soon as I get up on an empty stomach, recommended by my trainer.

what do crunches on an empty stomach do?

I'm assuming it's so that there's nothing currently digesting in there to hinder the ab routine?

If you are weight training/body resistance work (Push ups/pull ups), you are using your core, thus building it's strength as well. You don't have to train your abs daily, nor should you, as like any muscle, it needs a break to allow for recovery. Switch up your routines every 3 weeks and tighten your CORE with each exercise or challenge yourself with push ups (use a BOSU or Stability Ball) or pull ups.

Also, abs aren't made in the gym, they will only truly "pop" with proper nutrition.
