Calling all Freaky Weird Competative Type A Personalities

My schedule is gearing up to get stupid and as we all know, LIFE can get in the way of health (total logic there, I know!).
So, if you're like me, competition and the opportunity to "one up" someone or even yourself is a huge motivating factor (someone else is always better - just not the same gloating to yourself... "Hi Me! You see who's bad now, dontcha'!"... uhm...right.. you know those people that pick their noses in the car next to you?).
Anyway, I'm looking to start a thread of people who want to set DAILY and WEEKLY challenges pertaining to calorie burning and APPROPRIATE deficits (but not a dietary or fitness nazi... I'm jewish by birth).
This will be PURELY about the numbers (accountants and lawyers need not apply. JK!!! sort of.)
Concept idea: I want to END each day on 950 and burn 1 lb of cals a week (500 a day). Someone else wants to END their day on 1500 and burn 1.5 lbs of cals a week (750 a day). We report in each day to see who is closest and then the winner gets unrestrained gloating rights for the evening; at the end of the week, we report our weekly outcomes and if we want, any weight/measurement changes. ANY GLOATING MUST BE WITHHELD UNTIL YOU ARE THE WINNER! This is purely the rights of s/he that does "best" in his/her challenge. S/he who wins the weekly will get the entire weekend to bolster, tease, pick on and joke at our expense (but not meanly) and the rest of us just get to continue to boost that person's confience in their accomplishments all weekend. The idea, everyone ends up winning at some point and gets an entire weekend of people telling them how fabulous they are and how they're the "big man on campus", etc.
Is that motivating enough? C'MON - GET WITH THE PROGRAM ALREADY!!!
Jeeze.

I am a "freaky weird competitive type A personality." Count me in. When did you want to start?0
-
OMG - that's so funny!! I made a joke about attorneys and the only one to respond IS an attorney!
I LOVE IT!!!!! :drinker:
I looked to see if your location was posted before I responded with ... Today? lol....
My goal really is to end my day on 950 and to burn at least 500 cals a day - which means my total intake would be about 1450. Oh, and at least 6 glasses of water. I'm terrible with water, but I've been doing well this week (yay me!). My weekly - down a minimum of 1 lb (EVERY week). More is nice, but let me get on a consistent 1 first.
What are your daily/weekly goals?0 -
Ok here goes
Tomorrow I am gonna burn 250 cals (DO NOT LAUGH MY HRM IS TIGHT) and
I am not going to eat a single morsel that's not included in my weird crash diet and
I will drink 8 glasses of water minimum
Sorry there aren't more numbers, I am more of a qualitative kinda gal0 -
Oh you're in a diff. time zone, aren't you clio? Okay.. tomorrow for you it is.
Today: drink 8 (min), End day on EIGHT (yes, 8) 50. Burn min. 500 (USING MY HRM!)
We check in AFTER we hit our end of day on our food logs (or before we start the next A.M.) Feel free to do a daily or weekly weigh in, but that part isn't required. This isn't loss based - this is changing our habits one day at a time. :-)0 -
I'm a freaky weird Type A person but my OCD has taken the form of a schedule mapped out until mid-June with my workouts planned out and major milestones I intend to hit.0
-
Oh man, that's Type A to a fault! LOL
Welcome aboard, Phera! Can you break it down to daily goals? It doesn't matter if they're pre-mapped. I'm not interested in having anyone modify or restructure their goals - just to help those who want to participate to reach them and see for ourselves what we are accomplishing. :-) It's easier for me to break things down into smaller pieces but I know not everyone works that way. And, it doesn't have to be a calorie or workout goal.. it could be water or getting a particular nutrient in each day!0 -
Hmm...I have 16lbs still to lose and I intend to complete p90X by mid-June which is 16 weeks away so that means a lb. a week which is 500 cal. deficit/day. I should start wearing my BodyBug again to more accurately keep track.0
-
There ya' go! So your daily goal, it sounds like, is to burn 500 a day, Phera? Is that right?0

Today, Thursday 2/24/2011
Net cals in: 1012 (off by 62)
Cals burnt: 250 (off by 250)
Water: still drinking but so far, 10 cups (whoohoo!! Over!! YAY!)
One of the reasons I want to get to a 500 burn ability is so that I can more or less eat what I want and know I can work it off. Right now, the numbers are far too close and I'm actually too pooped to work off another measley 62 cals. That's pretty sad.
Oh, I think today's weight (after coffee and being up a little bit) was 140.4. I think I'm going to start reporting daily on my main page. One of my friends is doing that and it seems like a great accountability measure. I don't know if I'll double dip and report in both places on that though.
I'm ... somewhat okay with today's outcomes, overall. I'm very pleased with my water, and I'm so so on my cals in. I'm really not okay with my burn though. Says alot about my strength & endurance. :-(0 -
Heh I'm not going to participate but I'm going to stand at the sidelines and watch!0
-
The 500 calorie deficit is actually already figured into my calories by mfp. So if I stay within my calorie allotment then I'm supposed to lose a pound. Keeping the accountability on your profile works pretty well too since there's no good way of bookmarking threads to watch.0

Phera: Just go to "my topics" - it lists the most recent threads you've replied to.
Cals in: 800
Cals out: 87 (big whoop)
Time: 15 minutes: running in place, jumping jacks, jump rope, sits ups, planks, thrusts
Water: I didn't track so well today - I think about 4. Not so great.0
