My name is Sheila. I have 3 sons and 3 grandsons. My youngest is getting married in June. I am ready to get serious about eating in moderation. I am a binge eater. It is feast or famine around here.

I am in a Biggest Loser contest with 9 of my family members. I have only lost about 5lbs since Jan 3rd. I haven't been too serious about it. I am hoping this app will encourage me. My goal is to lose about 25 to 30lbs before June 11, 2011. I have another goal of exercising 4 to 5 X every week. I need to by one of those groom's mom dresses. Hoping I can find something that is not Ol' Lady Looking or Hoochie Mama. I think losing a few lbs will help. My end goal is to lose about 40lbs.

Cool, I know this site helps me loads!!!
I am exactly like you - I either binge or I never eat (which is the worst of both worlds). I don't get hungry much, but when I do, it's usually cause I'm eating simple carbs and want more simple carbs. The diary I keep on here helps soooo much. Still really difficult no matter how much help you have. Good luck to you and your goals! :-)

    Sheila,

I just want to say...do you have a Ross? My mother was having a terribly difficult time finding a nice mother of the bride dress for my wedding. I went into a Ross one day and was looking for a dress for something else and found the PERFECT dress for her. Not too "old lady" and definitely not "hoochie mama"!

You could also try TJ Maxx. I have no intention of wearing my wedding dress from 9am until 9pm on my wedding day so I went looking for another suitable dress that I could wear to the reception and found it at TJ Maxx. I believe the groom's mother also found her dress at TJ Maxx.

I think this site is great! I lost some weight with WW a few years ago when my son (I also have 3 sons) was getting married, but it's back now and I want to get it off. I also did NOT want an old lady dress haha. I just joined 2 weeks ago and love it. I already feel better. The tracking is easy. There is a lot of great support and inspiration here. Feel free to friend me.

    Shelia,

And to the other part of your post...it's going to be hard. You have to really put yourself in the right mental mind set. I am a "pro dieter" myself. Although, I don't know if I can call it pro when I can't ever seem to keep the weight off.

    Exercise is really important.

And just remember, no matter what you see from ANYONE else on this thread or any other thread. YOU MUST EAT BACK YOUR EXERCISE CALORIES or you will end up gaining more weight than you lose. And I know you don't want that when you're searching for a dress for that wedding!

Binge eating is truly bad. Check out the links in my signature: one is links in MFP you want to read again and again.

    And read this:http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/3047-700-calories-a-day-and-not-losing

It explains what happens with binge eating. And good luck to you. This site gives great support!

YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS VERY, VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!! And be patient. You might not see immediate results. It can take a month. Invest in a measuring tape. You might not see the scale move that much but exercise makes your body shape change and lose inches even though the scale might not move. I fit into pants that were tight on me when I weighed less than I do now.
  • Thank you so much ladies! One thing I was wondering about when I set up the MFP app on my phone is: I put my setting to sedentary. I set my exercise to 5X per week. NOW~when I exercise do I add the individual exercises or do I not add that since I already said my goal is to exercise 5 X per week. I wasn't sure about that since when I add that I walked the dogs it gives me more calories.
