I'm taking delivery of the game next weekend ( had to wait forever for it to be released here in the UK ) and I wanted to know your opinions if you already have it.

I have never tried a Zumba class!

  • I love mine!!! its a great quick calorie burner & you don't have to worry about looking like a turd in front of other people! LOL MFP does not have a zumba category for its exercise, but I've figured there are about 540 calories burned in an hour of zumba- good luck!! Hope you enjoy it!

I've never done a Zumba class either. I recently got it for the Wii and I LOVE it!!!! For me, I burn more calories and work up more of a sweat with that than I do my Elliptical machine.

  • Today was my second day of doing it. Please tell me it gets easier for some of you that has done it for awhile. Maybe I need to just get better at the routines..I just have zero rhythm! I certainly have hips that need shaking though, and this is good for it! They just move sooooooooooooooooooo fast!
  • Wow! Glad I saw this post bc I didn't know they made Zumba for the wii, think I'll go get it today : )

I have taken zumba classes, and bought the zumba cardio party dvd, but does anyone like the wii game better?

Just curious because I was thinking about buying it.

I love my Zumba for Wii. I take classes, do the dvds, and I have the game. I guess I'm hooked. For those stressed about not getting the moves right ... relax ... just have fun and sweat sweat sweat to the music.

  • I've had Zumba for the Wii for a week now and I LOVE IT! This is my first experience with Zumba, and I will admit the first 2 days were really hard!! But by the 3rd day, I learned how to laugh about it when I mess up and have a blast. Once I started getting into it, I started sweating up a storm!

The crappy thing is it can't tell if you are doing it right. As long as your wii-mote is moving, the game thinks you are dancing correctly. You can just sit down on the couch and shake your wii-mote, and the instructor will tell you how great of a job you are doing. lol The tutorial is CRAP. Don't even bother.

I have been doing the workout schedule option. You can look at a calendar and add your classes to it. So far, I've been doing the beginner classes. There is a Beginner 1 and Beginner 2 and both of them are 20 mins each. I've been rotating 1 & 2 everyday. Once you are having a ton of fun, 20 minutes go by fast! So I'm looking forward into going into Intermediate soon. I believe those classes are 40-45 mins.

I'm also enjoying EA Active 2.

Oh ... and as far as how many calories burned ... I use my HRM to know the calories I burn. It varies depending on what effort I put into it. I usually burn about 450 to 550 calories per hour with Zumba Wii.
  • Very fun. My mom actually got me into it at the YMCA. After that I was hooked. I got the video program off the infomercial. After doing the videos so much I had to get the Wii game once I saw it out in stores. It definitely gets your blood pumping. I just wish the strap you've gotta where was non-slick to actually stay around your waist.

I ended up just strapping it around my lower rib cage, since that's where it ends up anyway.

are the DVDs more instructional? Like showing how to do the steps?

This is my workout right now, I love it!!! I've always loved dancing and I'm a musician, so it's like having fun.

I use a heart rate monitor and I do about 45 minutes and burn between 550-700 calories depending on the routines and how much effort I put into it.

The only thing I don't like is that most of the expert level dances don't get my heart rate up. It's really weird, the beginner and intermediate have a lot of high energy, jumping around routines. But the expert are made to be more difficult to execute, but not high energy. Has anyone else found this to be the case?
  • thanks for starting this topic Louise... I was totally wondering the same thing :flowerforyou:

Yes, the dvd has a tutorial section that goes through all the steps.
