Has anybody heard of african mango? I guess it was on the doctor oz show and people say it really works to help you lose inches in the tummy area. I am doing my calorie counting and excercising but curiuos to see if anybody has tried this and what your results were.

I don't know anything about African Mango and have no plans to look into it. At 50 years old...I do know a lot about "miracle" diet pills. I've been on Phen/Phen and other things...and at 50 I'm still struggling with my weight....so I don't believe in a miracle diet pill of any sort.

Since Jan 3, 2011 I've now lost 11 lbs (official weigh in on Monday when ticker will change). This is the FIRST time in my life I've lost this amount of weight without the aid of Jenny Craig, Nutrisystems or ANY type of diet or pill. I've made a LIFESTYLE change. I'm not on a diet that will end when I've lost my weight. I'm not eating any weird foods that I don't like, no cottage cheese or carrots...I eat whole foods and veggies and I'm never hungry. I work out every day and I take care of myself.

This is how I will lose the weight and remain healthy for the rest of my life.:flowerforyou:

    Ok...I'm off my soapbox now...sorry!:flowerforyou:

Nothing can give you targeted weight loss like that. Dr. Oz has been pushing so highly questionable practices to the public the last year or so. Mangoes are good regardless of where they come from. Dr. Oz has been touting fad diets and such for weight loss which is hurting his credibility, at least in these forums. If you want sweets add a mango into a meal, they are a great snack for the sweet tooth. Tracking calories and exercising is for a lifetime change. tummy inches will come off, your body will decide where it wants to burn the fat from first regardless of what you eat. I lost a couple of inches from my tummy in a month, but I am a guy with a rather large tummy, even though I don't drink beer

interesting article here about it as presented on the Dr Oz show:

    http://starglobaltribune.com/2010/dr-oz-recommends-using-african-mango-for-weight-loss-1766

note.. it is not universally recommended it seems.

Me? i'm fine relying on my own efforts to control my appetite..and have recently begun using apple cider vinegar (something i can get in the grocery store as real food *L*) for it's health benefits and metabolism boost, so no intention of trying this one. Maybe if i could buy african mangos in the produce section and eat them i might give it a go.
