i lost 140 pounds in 8 months after gastric bypass and I had alot of loose skin and ended up getting a tummy tuck to remove it. 15 pounds worth the skin to be honest. now I have a much better figure than flaps of skin around my waist and hips.
I gained some weight back over the years so Im getting another 40 pounds off but I have not had any more skin issues after that.

I have lost about 70 lbs over the last 2 years, and that coupled with always being overweight (smaller now than ever) and having 2 kids 15 mos apart has really taken its toll on my stomach skin.
But I am just recently starting to see the "flap" get tighter, so there is hope. The only recommendation I can give you is to add some Pilates or Yoga in your exercise routine to tighten up the muscle under the fat, and eventually it should help. But take heart that although it might take some time, you will be happy with the end result. (That's what I keep telling myself anyway).

Great job on the loss so far and keep up the great work!

And i did have some loose skin but it went down, Hope that helps some!

This worries me too:( Im 50 odd pound down and seem to be toning up all over and hope that it continues but it always worries me - Im 36 and have been overweight all my life and often wonder what damage I have done to my body/skin I understand that my skin isnt going to have the elasticity of younger or after 3 kids Im never going to have a washboard - but as long as I can tone up and not resort to surgery ill be a happy chappie !

at the moment the exercise Im doing is running 3-4 times p/wk and zumba 2 x p/wk

Good Luck and if you find a miracle - share it !!! lol x

Unfortunately, there are a lot of factors that play into losing large amounts of weight regarding skin elasticity and retention. Age, skin health, muscle mass, etc. But for the most part, if the skin has been stretched out due to weight gain, and lost rapidly, the tendency for having loose skin has a higher chance of staying that way. Just keep at it and add strength training to build up some muscle for the skin to tighten around. If you've reached a goal weight that may not require any more fat loss, and you've exhausted all the exercise and alternatively cream and cosmetic possibilities, and your skin is still loose... Elective surgery may be the only solution left. So, just keep at it for now, and only consider it when the time comes.

I am not your age and my top weight was 260 but age will only make it harder for me to not end up with loose skin. I have a blog on my approach that I wrote recently and I do not claim conclusive results but so far so good. I am witnessing alot of belly fat disapearing without any loose skin so far. My approach has been lots of exercise and slow steady weight loss. I so far have stayed to low impact exercise walking and aquafit. Aquafit is great for the core. We use drag bells that provide water resistance and is basically a form of strength training. Walking has toned up my legs especially lower. It is good for the core as well. I lost my first area of belly fat and am working on the next and my lower abdominal area is so much smaller. We do alot of arm work with the drag bells under water that is working as well. I expected to start transistioning from Aquafit to higher impact exercise by now but it has been so effective I am keeping with it till I don't see results anymore. My plan was to make sure I got enough exercise to pounds lost to avoid as much loose skin as possible. No real research here just common sense or intuitive approach and it is working. I haven't lost as much as you but I am firming as I go. Best to you in your journey and congratulations on your progress.
