I put in a recipe for applesauce chicken and the results just didn't sound right.

Calories Carbs Fat Protein

Motts - Applesauce, 1.5 cup (113g) 150 36 0 0
Generic - Half of Skinless Chicken Breast, 16 oz 400 0 0 0
Heinz - Apple Cider Vinegar, 1 Tbsp. 0 0 0 0

How can chicken have no protein or fat? I'm so lost :(

Yeah, that's one of the problems with having a database that anyone can add to or edit. Someone created that "Generic - Half of Skinless Chicken Breast" food item and only put in calories and left out everything else. Select a different chicken breast from the list or check your package and enter the info yourself. When using items from the database, I always try to confirm the data before choosing an item. Some of the items listed are totally off.

Make sure each item you choose from the data base has the correct info. I have noticed that when some people add things to the database, they only enter in the calories and leave the rest blank. I always choose items that have several confirmations for accuracy. You are right, chicken does have protein.

I'm also finding it ridiculously hard to enter really anything into the recipe maker :( I went to 400caloriesorless.com and found orange glazed pork and tried to key it in, but every time I try to add the sugar, I have to put it in by tsp or tbsp. I just don't feel like looking up how many teaspoons or tablespoons are in half a cup. It seems like a lot more work than it should be, but I want to watch everything, not just the calories :/ Maybe I'll have to though.

Ok, so does this sound better?

I honestly have no frame of reference, does 16 oz sound like 4 chicken breast halves?

Here again, the "sugar" you are using is probably a user-created one. If you scroll through the list and find an item without an * in front of it, that's a food from the original MFP database instead of a user-created one. Those original items will often have more serving size options than the ones users create. For example, with sugar if you use "Sugars - Granulated" you'll have the option of selecting packet, tsp, cup, cube, or grams as your serving unit.

It takes a little getting used to, but once you've done it a bit, creating recipes and logging your food will become easy. Stick with it!

Found this on Google . Hope it helps.

    Cooking Measurement Equivalents
    16 tablespoons = 1 cup
    12 tablespoons = 3/4 cup
    10 tablespoons + 2 teaspoons = 2/3 cup
    8 tablespoons = 1/2 cup
    6 tablespoons = 3/8 cup
    5 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon = 1/3 cup
    4 tablespoons = 1/4 cup
    2 tablespoons = 1/8 cup
    2 tablespoons + 2 teaspoons = 1/6 cup
    1 tablespoon = 1/16 cup
    2 cups = 1 pint
    2 pints = 1 quart
    3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon
    48 teaspoons = 1 cup
