Foods fortified with Vitamin D

Hello,
I need to increase my Vitamin D intake. Does anyone know where I can get extra Vitamin D other than the milk, fortified margarine, cereal bars and supplements? I'm looking for low calorie snacks/foods if there are any. Thanks in advance for any input you may have.

You can take vitamin D supplement or a multivitamin (if it has enough D for you there)0

cooked mushrooms are loaded with it, add them daily to your diet, but opt for fresh ones and cook them yourself to save on the sodium. A single mushroom will deliver as much as a supplement will and it gets absorbed better by the body, also add cauliflower and spinach for an added punch of vit D.0

I use a Vitamin D supplement liquid form. couple drops a day is all I need which helps!!0

Mine is low as well. I was just put on 50,000 units of Vitamin D once a week, but haven't filled my prescription yet. I'm looking for ways of incorporating this into my diet. I currently drink 1-2 cups of nonfat milk daily, but some days I don't drink any since I don't like to drink my calories. I usually drink milk if I know I will be running low on calories for the day. I currently consume milk, yogurt, breakfast bars, cereal, Country Crock margarine with vitamin D. All this time I've been focusing on iron intake and not vitamin D.0

again mushrooms are the best dietary source of vit D. get them into the diet, if you do not like them then throw them in a blender with some eggs and make an omelette out of it.0

Go outside. Stand in the sunshine for 15 minutes a day. Calorie free Vitamin D!0

So the vitamin D comes in a liquid form? I was really worried about the size of the pills. I have difficulty swallowing pills and have to take 50,000 units to get started.
Also, thanks for the mushroom suggestion. I LOVE mushrooms. We cook them with peppers and onions and add them to sausage, spaghetti, and love them on pizza or in salad.0 -
good to hear, this is from a dietary site I use a lot on mushrooms;
The USDA National Nutrient
Database was recently updated to incorporate the
vitamin D content of nearly 3,000 food entries, including
mushrooms. The top three selling mushroom varieties
(white button, crimini and portabella) have vitamin D
ranging from 1 to 97 percent of the Daily Value (400 IU)
per raw 84 gram serving.
How do they do it? Similar to the way that humans
absorb sunlight and convert it to vitamin D, mushrooms
contain a plant sterol–ergosterol–that converts to
vitamin D when exposed to real or simulated sunlight0 -
I love the sunshine! The doctor told me that the sun these days isn't as effective as it was years ago due to atmospheric concerns. I'm ALWAYS outside in the spring, summer, and fall.0

Thanks Newfiedan. I guess I will have to get some more fresh mushrooms at the grocery store tomorrow!0

Thought maybe this would be useful.

I have to take those 50,000 mg of vitamin D too. They are small gel pills. My vitamin D was low but with summer coming and today was wonderful I'll be getting it from the sun more0

I hate mushrooms. Is there another food that has vitamin D?0
