Hi everyone!
My name's Becca, I'm 21 and new here at My Fitness Pal. I used to be in fantastic shape back in High School but my bad eating habits & lack of interest in the gym in the past couple years caught up with me. I've been trying to lost about 30 lbs for the past 6 months but keep falling off the wagon after a few weeks of working out. I just got a gym membership at the YMCA with my boyfriend & am hoping this website helps keep me better motivated. I've tried P90X but got frustrated due to my lack in having the right equipment (so many exercises depended on that dang chin-up bar!!). Currently, I'm trying the gym 3-4x a week & playing Just Dance on my Wii 3x a week & holding myself accountable for all the junk food I eat (I have a terrible sweet tooth!)
I hope I can meet some new cool people who can help keep me motivated (& vice versa) and I can bounce ideas off of!

Good for you! Welcome to myfitnesspal and feel free to add me as a friend! It's a great site and it really does keep you motivated. There's some great people on here. My goal is to lose 30 pounds too. So far, I've lost 18 and am at a stand-still but I WILL move past this wall!0

I've been there & been "trying" to lose weight since I had my daughter 8 yrs ago. Looking back, I don't think i ever really gave 100% b/c i was worried that it wouldn't work & i didn't want to get demotivated so i sabotaged it by cheating (aka falling off the wagon). I also think there's something to be said about staying on the wagon when you are trying to introduce not only a change in eating habits but a change in lifestyle by trying to exercise more. So last year my goal was to just start exercising so it was a routine... accomplished. So now i am trying to do the diet thing and to date haven't had a momentary weakness & cheated. I've barely had any wine, pizza, bread, rice, sugar, candy, cereal, ... pretty much refined carbs, fast food, alcohol, etc. I did not do good with 'shocking' my lifestyle by changing eating habits & exercising.
i would recommend stuffing your house with food you are allowed to eat and get rid of the crap food. the 2nd thing i'd recommend is that you have seriously realize that if you want to keep the weight off... this is a permanent change in your lifelong eating habits... it's not temporary. just my 2 cents for what it's worth and looking back over the years.0 -

Mishmash- I am definitely guilty of sabotaging it for myself too. It's been alot harder lately because I'm in school & have to live with my dad during the week to attend classes & his house is FULL of junk food. He tries to get some healthy things for me, but I can't resist the junk he gets! My room is in the basement of the house & set up kindof like an apartment, so I'm thinking of investing in a mini-fridge so I can stock it myself!0
