Having a look at the menu, the items that I would recommend would either be one of the grilled meals (that does not involve a creamy sauce), or pasta dishes with a tomato base sauce prefered over the creamy version.
At some restaurants, its possible to exchange the sauce for another. I have also at times even asked whether there is an entree size, or to takeaway half first (at some places where the portions are a little generous).
Personally, I find salads can be less healthy as you also experienced, and not that great at keeping us full for long.
Don't be too put off by eating out, just try and factor it in to the total calorie intake, and work around it to have lighter meals for the remainder of the day. Enjoy your time out!0 -
Think I would go with either the whole baked seabass or the nicoise. Neither of them seem to have a creamy source or Fries. The both are high in protein.0

I was also thinking if it had a sauce to ask for the sauce on the side as when i went out last week my sauce was ALL over my meal and i knew it was a disaster.
Thanks for the help0 -
I have never had either of these so reckon i shall try one0

From the starters I'd say stick to the prawns. I would have suggested the mussels but it is in a creamy sauce.
In the grill section I's say the Cod or the seabass. The grilled chicken breast would be okay I suppose but the creamy sauce will be loaded with calories.
From the pasta the courgette and spinach rigatoni, the ravioli with mushrooms (the sauce may be creamy though), the peri peri chicken penne, vegetable or seafood risotto without the cheese (again sauce may be creamy).
Stay away from the pizza it will probably be about 800-1000 calories but if you want pizza have the cheese and tomato or the fiorentina.
In the salads chicken ceasar usually has fried croutons in it and high fat dressing, the oak roasted salmon sounds ok and the nicoise.
Minted peas or green beans as a side.
When I eat out I usually stick to fish or vegetarian. Stay away from creamy sauce or anything with cheese. If you want meat go for chicken but not breaded, fried or in a creamy sauce. Salads usually sound healthy but are loaded with high fat dressing, cheese, oil and fried croutons.
The biggest thing I would say is to either only have a main or only eat a small portion of your main and starter. Portion control is big thing in restaurants because they always give you massive portions.0 -
If you're feeling naughty after and can't resist you could probably squeeze in a sorbet for dessert. It would be the best option for a sweet taste.0

yeah I was thinking that too - about the sauce on the side. I also normally order water/soda water - it becomes an unconscious thing after a while. youre welcome!0
