My Dr. prescribed Lyrica for my pain a week ago. I was wondering if anyone has had any experiences with it, good or bad? I am not feeling myself. Extremely low energy, mental alertness is terrible right now. Im starting to wonder if I should choose the pain over the medicine.

I'm not a doctor but I looked up some of the side effects of the drug. A few of the more common ones are:

    Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
    Nervousness
    Fatigue
    Feeling abnormal or drunk

I'm not a big fan of taking prescription drugs because they usually have more negative side effects than their benefits. When I was on Yaz (birth control) the stuff almost killed me. I'm sure that there is probably a more suitable drug out there if you don't like how you feel on it.

Ive been taking it for a few years.. I love it.. I have switched to other medicatins in the past because of cost.. but I found its the best for my pain... When you first start taking it.. you will feel *weird* but after about a month that goes away.. if it feels to extreme maybe your doctor can lower your dose and adjust it as you go?

it is worth it.. Im not sure the pain you have but I have fibromyalgia and neuropathy... and its amazing the relief Lyrica gives me...

I work in a pharmacy and the normal complaints regarding Lyrica are the issues you are having. The thing is most patients prefer those feelings over the pain. If you are using this medication for neuropathy maybe try Neurontin if you havent already. From my experience with patients there isnt as many complaints.

Thank you for the comments everyone.

I have noticed there are side affects with most medicines too. I made a call to the Dr. Office to see if I should hang in there alittle longer to adjust to it or possibly lower the dose. It seems to have helped with my pain. Just don't know if I want to feel foggy all the time in exchange. I will definately check into the Neurontin and see if that is an option for me.

    Appreciate the help!:flowerforyou:
