Question about my Polar FT7

Ok, so the screen where it has "Effect" and then your heart rate, with what I believe is your target heart rate below it...mine had 128 as my heart rate the first few days, and if I went above that, it went into "Fitness" versus the "Fat burn" The last two days, it has had a different number for my target-138. I have not changed anything in the personal settings either-does the monitor automatically adjust it over time? I could not find anything out about this, in the manual.

According to the Polar site, yes it does adjust itself. I find that the Fat burn zone (on mine anyway) is way too low. I don't feel as though I've had a workout if I keep at the suggested level.
  • Yes. I have the FT7 also and noticed the same thing. I went to their web site and did some digging and found that it does indeed change the point where it switches from "fat burn" to "fitness" based on changes in the heart rate it measures. I don't exactly understand how it changes but according to the web site, that is normal.

Okay, thank you very much PaulC9554 and Aitenev. I also wondered about the fat burn range-seemed a little too easy for me also.

I got my FT40 today, and it does the samething. The booklet says it changes with your current condition. So it probably has figured you need to get your heart rate up high in order to burn more calories, or get a better workout. Hope that helps!
